Have you guys ever seen anything like this? I've had it for as long as I can remember, and it was bought in the early 90s. I do not remember it having a box or manual. The only thing that really separates it from a real Game Boy game is that the back of the cart says Made in China instead of made in Japan. The game itself is just an unedited version of the Japanese Kirby's Dream Land release. Seen anything similar?

Either its a Chinese fake or Chinese original. Either way it's not Japanese because it's got Chinese text on the case. Are you sure the in game text is not Chinese? Just asking since you never mentioned that the cart had chinese writing on it. Maybe you thought that was Japanese?

Oh I know the Text on the Label is in Chinese. Only the Cart and Label are different, but the game text is in Japanese. I Google'd earlier today to make sure it was the Japanese logo.

I've seen carts like this a lot, just a pirate that was made to appear as an official Chinese version, but as I'm sure most know Nintendo never distributed Gameboy games in any official format in China. They never fail to use the unedited JP game too.

Of course, there are some games that actually were translated to Chinese. Only one that springs to mind is some Saga game that I see a lot. Was released over there as Final Fantasy 4, box art has lots of FF7 characters on it. Probably one of the most common GB pirates there is.

Unless it's an i-Que release, it's a pirate. I have a GBA cartridge of Dragon Ball Z and it has a Chinese sticker on it saying its the Chinese version. Turns out, it was the Japanese version with a Chinese translation patch applied.

Is this definitely a pirate cart? It appears to have a gamebit screw in the back which is usually an indicator thats its a genuine cart. It also has its own country specific cartridge code "DMG-205 CHN" and I cant imagine pirates going to that much trouble to make a fake label?

Any chance of a picture of the PCB?

Any chance it was maybe made for HK or Taiwan?

Actually has Nintendo ever gotten into distribution for HK or Taiwan? I know sony does but not sure if Nintendo does (I do know in mainland china it's the iQue brand but that did not start till the iQue Player (n64 based) before moving on to GBA).

I know some Wii games got TW versions made.

    -edit-
I wonder what happen to the idea of an official release of Wii in china.

This is an official cart. There are many of this kind. They have a round seal of quality like european/australian games and are numbered like DMG-number CHN. Nintendo's official distributor in china was Mani. Their logo can be found on some of these carts and one cart was already found where they changed the menu for the chinese edition. PCBs have already been inspected and ROM chips show official codes and everything. This is definitely no fake.

I think my friend had one of those but for Pokemon Yellow. It was using the American box art on the label with Chinese characters.

This is just the HK version of the game, what's the deal? Of course it's official. I have around 30 HK/CH versions, if they're fake you can definitely cut my willie in public.

    :p

There's a topic just a few topics below... I'm so sad no one checked it lol:
