Hi, I've done a bit of searching around for this but apologies for anyone having to repeat themselves. I used to have a Duox 2 chipped Xbox with 120gb HDD. This ceased working a while back leaving me no access to my HDD installed games. A few days ago, I stumbled across an Xbox for £5, got it home and discovered it was already chipped. What would be the easiest, quickest method of moving across my old 120gb HDD (healthy) with games and saves intact to the new chipped Xbox? Thanks in advance.
Well just move it to the new chipped Xbox, unlock it and lock it again. It will lock to the Xbox you've bought. Also, what version is it? You could TSOP it and save the modchip for chipping another Xbox.
It really depends if the previous Xbox the hard disk came from had it locked. Modchips don't magically make any hard disk work. Also if you have a modchip, theres no reason to lock your hard disk... Unless you want to boot in stock state, which isn't a feature to be required any more.
Softmod+chip can take care of that. At least this is how I upgraded my 1.4's HDD: 1.Softmod using SID5 2.TSOP flashed X2 4981 3.Shut down and installed 10GB HDD (the one I was going to use) 4.Rebooted into HeXEn 5.Built my HDD and locked it to the Xbox' EEPROM.
