How many of you have started Christmas shopping yet? I've just started for overseas ordering (IE from Japan/USA). I work in a major UK supermarket and we already have loads of Christmas stuff in our warehouse..

I usually wait till after halloween before I start.

With exception on when I get to buy something for my self as an xmas gift. Usually it's when ever the particular item is available. =)

Cooleo: thanks for giving me some serious bad flashbacks back to some bad Christmases I have had over the years.

    yes.

In all seriousness, though, I don't start shopping until after Thanksgiving. I usually start in December and finish by Christmas Eve.

well yeah, christmas is a load of bull, decorations in my town hang from the beginning of novemeber up to february and march... that's friggin 4-5 months. That's what pisses me off in christmas, but hell, I like sitting down in front of my tv, when outside there's nothing but christmas lights and decorations and the snow is falling like crazy, with no wind. It's got it's charm. Also, getting a present for yourself - you have a great excuse to buy stuff you always tend to leave for "later" and never get to buy it in the end.

Christmas shopping? No, not yet and even when I do, it will probably be one item. I'm graduating, so I need to hold on to as much money as possible until I get a good paying job lol.

I got excited two years ago when my mother decided not to have a tree. We had a few presents under a plant-stand. Then last year, she bought one again and I was quite disappointed.

When I celebrate at my Grandma's, we have a tree.

When I celebrate at home we often don't have a tree because I think it is just a hassle. One time around ten years ago we decorated a palm tree (one of our house plants) instead, haha. I later learned that this is the way Christians in India celebrate Christmas, with decorated palm trees.

What I think is funny is how big Christmas is in Japan albeit only around 1% of the Japanese are Christians. They took Christmas to a whole new level of commercialism.

I haven't had a tree in my house in like... let me do the math.... 12 years.

I hate the holidays so much, that this year I've given some serous thought to putting something like this as a decoration to get into the "holiday spirit"

This last one is probably even better, because of the bondage and stuff, but alas, I don't have a tree in my apartment
