I'm planning to get the EverDrive for the NES when it's out in a few months. But there's very few choice of NES shells. 99.9% licensed are in grey, only 2 Zelda games are in gold. Tengen games are in black. Other unlicensed carts may have different shape innard and may not fit Everdrive plus I don't want the icky robin egg blue that Color Dream loved to use.

So I thought about making the shells a custom color. I've decided to try and get it metallic red color but plain off the shelf paint won't get nice shiny finish like the gold Zelda carts. So I need to send the shells somewhere for chroming service. I hope someone can do red chrome somewhere.

Depending on the cost, I may strip and send in a few NES Paks. I have about 20 SMB/DH carts so supply of sacrifice games for the shell is not an issue.

Anyone know of a place in USA (or Canada) that can do plastic chroming? I know chrome red exists and can be done on plastic, LEGO sent me a Valentine freebie a couple weeks ago: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=853303 and :cool-new: ooo nice shiny red, perfect for red Nintendo logo.

Google it. It won't be cheap, and I'm not sure why you'd want a metal cart, but OK! You'd be far better off spray painting it.

That Lego keyring isn't chrome plated, though.

    They are not shiny lol.

Wish chroming wasn't so expensive. Painting wouldn't give the reflective look, but there is similar alternative.

The process is called vacuum metalizing. Are you sure you really want to spend the money to do this? These finish never last.

You can always use regular paint do a wet sand to get mirror shine but its hell of lot of work for a cart

Plastic plating is done with electrically charging the case and drawing the paint to the plastic.

    Sort of like powder coating.

Your best bet is to get a chrome paint, a good high quality one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUc8QsLjS1s

Hmmm so it's just painting then. I'll have to look up that, got a brand in mind?
