http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3603&item=8131481393&rd=1 Chrono Trigger PAL cart, apparently. I'm almost certain it was never released in any PAL territory, but the photo looks surprisingly legit. Possibly someone with PROM, writer, and time on their hands, though I would have thought Starfox 2 or a fan translated Japan-only RPG (Seiken Densetsu 3 springs to mind) would be more profitable. Move this to the ebay thread if necessary, I didn't want to clutter it up with off-topic discussion.
well if i remember right there was really a pal version because i remember power player (a danish magazine) made a review of it
Its surely fake. USA box, Xeroxed USA manual, printed label on cart with made up product code. Probably, he just took a US game and exchanged the NTSC CIC with a PAL one.
If you were to notice the white margin down the right side then it is probable that it's a graphic that came from a scan of that poster that came inside the game. :smt033
Same story as the Starfox 2 cart in that other thread. There's been a spate of them on eBay recently - someone must be raking in a fortune by following d4s's SNES cart-hacking instructions. Most of the one's I've seen have sold for around £150. And SNES Chrono Trigger was definitley never released in Europe.
To bad those carts (especially starfox 2) go for a small fortune , i'd really really want a cart starfox 2 instead of using a pc + emulator for it.
people you have put me in a little turmoil because i really mean there were a pal version of that great game because the old danish magazine Power Player did not review ntsc US games and i know i have those old magazines still edit. i just heard that it was never a pal version when i find the magazine i will make some pictures of the review with my webcam
'How-to' guide here: http://snesdev.romhack.de/game_select.htm d4s also offered to make up repros of unreleased games & translations on the Digital Press forums a while back. For time & parts the overall cost was something like $60-$70, but that was reduced if you could supply the appropriate donor carts. A lot of people still balked at those prices, but you're not going to find one anywhere cheaper unless you make your own.
Making my own isn't an option since i don't have an eprom programmer, nor a donor cart not the technical skill. So maybe if i'm lucky i might win the lottery and buy one :smt042
Asked the seller whether it was proto or homebrew, he responded: "I know it was never released in PAL, that's what i say on the auction. About the origin, i have no ideia, i bought it like this, so i don't know. In any case, who cares, it's here for who's interested."
I say if your going to bootleg and sell a Euro game then go for the gold and bootleg Kizuna Encounter for the Neo Geo. For what that game is going for I'm shocked that no one has invested the time and done that one yet.
Not sure if it's dumped or not but even if you had to shell out an initial fifteen grand for an original copy it would still be worth it. Sell three copies for ten grand and you've doubled your money.
fake. i have seen more supposedly pal cartridges, but with a closer look u will see it is definately a fake.
Re Neo Kizuna: The ROM is identical to the much more-readily available JP version, so it's almost certainly out there. Easier still would be to slap new labels on a JP copy. But to be able to make perfect labels, you'll need an original to work from, and you've gotta track one of those down first... I suspect that none of the known owners will be wanting to part with theirs for anything less than the cost of a small island
