I have an old Sega Master System that has a ton of dust and probably dirt in it's connector. What would be the most efficient way to clean it? I know rubbing alcohol, but what can I use to really get in there? I'm not sure if a q-tip will be good enough.. Also, is there ANY way to get a new pin connector for the Master System .. ala the new NES pin connectors that we've all come to love? I would hate for this system to have breathed it's last breath. I'm getting software errors with my games, and I suspect my pin connector may be chipping the contacts off of my cartridges...but I might just be paranoid. Thanks, everyone.
I've got one of these: http://www.gameasylum.us/ungacaclkit.html and it's worked a treat for all my cart-based consoles.
Hi justin138, yes..There is a generic brand new cartridge connector you can get for the Master System: http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=68914 This one for Western Systems: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/EDAC/341-050-520-202/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvlX3nhDDO4ADebvHqt5FRjeBZG9f0%2FggQ%3D This one for Asian Systems: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail...GAEpiMZZMutB6RuyXJB1NbKoTYpZpybO48rG%2bYosUo= Good luck! I don't know of any cleaning cartridges yet, but you could probably make your own using plastic made into the shape of the cartridge size for your system and maybe a broken game circuit board module and remove the pins to it and stuff...Or you could ask NAKI or similar companies to come out with some for bulk sale to people who still own Master Systems, or I could do it for you, your choice! Again, good luck! Maybe you could use a little isopropyl alcohol dipped on a cottom swab to get at the pins on the cartridge connector and then use an envelope and rub the edges in the canal of the connector!
