I was wondering if the Landstalker and Runabout developer, Climax Entertaiment, was still open, and while I do recall visiting their site last year, it wasn't working anymore. After seaching the developer name in japanese (PS: I don't know japanese), it appears that in a job site review, two former employees stated that the company has closed, which explains why they didn't release anything after Runabout 3D/ Crash City Mayhem for 3DS. https://jobtalk.jp/company/27962/reputations
Think all but the UK office closed but cannot check fully as not home yet. Might explain why the UK office cleared out. @Borman @PixelButts @VerticalE @kennypecheur. Or is it just me mixing names? Lol
You're mixing names, the Climax Entertaiment is a japanese developer, it was one of the oldest japanese third party developers that I know. The UK one is Climax Group which closed all but their UK studio, they are not related.
I tought it was the same Climax that the one Demon was talking about, but I was wrong too. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climax_Entertainment The japanese one https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climax_Group The UK one I also tought Crash City Mayhem was a Rocket Company and Majesco game.
Crash City Mayhem was developed by Rocket, but it's original name is Runabout 3D: Drive Impossible, and the Runabout franchise was created by Climax and published in Japan by them. The USA version was published by Majesco, and like the original one, the name was changed to the one above, I own this game and it's pretty much an expansion pack to Runabout 3 (at least juding by the visuals). Interesting enough, Rocket made the last 3 games published by Climax.
Climax Entertainment - A dev studio from Japan that doesn't operate anymore. Climax Studios - A dev studio from UK. Climax Group - A group of dev studios from all over the world that Climax Studios was a part of. Didn't go so well and now Climax Studios is going solo again.
I was looking to get it too long time ago. It was supposed to get a physical Pal release by Ghostlight, but it never get one. I will end up buying the US version, and a US 3DS.
Wasn't the PAL version released on the eShop only? And frankly, althrough is not a bad game, it's not a good runabout either, heck, it even carries the framerate problems from Runabout 3 from what I've saw in a video, stick with the original game, and maybe Super Runabout (didn't play yet, but by the videos looks good).
Yes, it is eShop only in PAL areas. But a Physical copy was discussed at some point. Anyway, thanks a lot for your feedback about the game. I still think of getting this game, as playing a Runabout game on handheld looks quite fun. Will wait for a good NTSC 3DS offer. Edit : Getting a NTSC 3DS for Azure stricker will be a good thing too
