I'm sure at one point I've seen mods simply delete posts in FS threads that are clearly offtopic from the sale. I know we had the rule where you can't post things like "price is too high", "I can get it cheaper on ebay", or simply talk about the same item you are going to sell in another person's sale thread.
That is a stupid idea. Some sellers periodically post new items every once in a while in the same thread, many times it's more than 3, and that in turns bumps it back to the top. Only close/delete when the seller says so and if they say the item was put up on ebay.
My suggestion was only aimed at those threads which have been left stagnate over time, yet still get bumped by the owner. Alas as ASSEMbler says this can be discussed another time if required, at which point I can elaborate a little more. No idea is a stupid idea in my opinion though.
Chit chat..so so about it tbh. At times it can be (very) helpful to people who aren't sure exactly what something is, both buyers and sellers! Bumps get on my wick though. (and imo should only be allowed when there is a genuine change to the thread, ie adding new items, or lowering prices, but NOT because you tidied up the first post, or because its tuesday morning and you feel like it)
I may have came out as a little bit harsh there. What my point is that idea doesn't seem like it will work. although I see your point on old threads.
It depends. If you're asking whether or not nonrelated or semirelated discussion in sales threads should be altogether, prohibited, I'd say no. Instead I'd say it should be kept to a minimum and maybe prohibited in really extreme cases.
Mayby the person who starts the thread could ask to have no spam in there i know im personally responsible for some of the spam posts and i am sorry for it
I fully agree with what hl718 is saying  As long as it's still on topic then all is fine. Yakumo
Call me crazy, but the chit chat about the item in the marketplace has always been one of my favorite parts about the site. All it tends to do is bring out all relevant information about the items and their vaules...which is a good thing. My only complaint would be about the "PM Sent" posts. Those are the biggest +1 pieces of BS on the planet. Call me crazy, but I think that it's blatantly obvious when I have a message.
