It's a bummer, Club Nintendo was the primary reason I bought new Wii and DS/3DS games.

Plus they released a ton of games to download, and the site's been overloaded all day.

USA got a good deal out of it. UK got crap. No games, only junk that no one cares about.

Who knows what the new system will be, but I hope it's easier to use than this current one. Putting in codes that can sometimes be annoying to get right, and then filling out a useless survey to get a measly 250 stars was crap. Hope it's something better than that.

Physical items are always nice. I would like to see the days when you could get a Gamecube controller or a limited edition DS lite.

I agree it was always about physical items for me. Would have bought so many more games if there had been more great US items like japan had (although I would just buy those through eBay). The Wiimote that was really a universal remote was really cool!

As for the codes being annoying to enter... Maybe a peal off seal/sticker with a QR code under it you can scan in with your 3DS or Wii U?

It was terrible in the UK, agreed. I had a code that wouldn't work - I don't think Nintendo even bothered replying to me. And they seem to have deleted my account for no reason, without warning. Sure, I hadn't logged in for some time - but they should warn you. And the recovery e-mail thing will tell you an e-mail has been sent, regardless of what address you put in - yet it didn't send to my correct address!

Could someone clarify this for me? I don't have a Wii U at present....

Does this mean you won't be able to register a Wii U at all? Will this affect the ability to use the Wii U? Will it affect the warranty?

Well, yes. Except, they might be working out a way to register consoles in the future, when they start their new club nintendo thing.

Absolutely not. The registration code is separate from the device itself. It just tells your Club Nintendo account that you own a Wii U.

Nope. The warranty is also separate from the registration code.

Just to confirm, the registration codes are just a way to give your Club Nintendo account "stars". These stars are used to purchase various items that turn up in the Stars Catalogue. That's pretty much all it is.

One of the benefits of Club Nintendo was that you got an extra 90 days (I think) in your warranty if you registered with it. I have no idea how that'll transfer over.

Ah, I was talking about the UK Club Nintendo. No extra warranty here, I believe.

    This.

I have hit Platinum every year for the past four or five years. The Mario characters statue? Nice. The pins? Pretty cool. Ocarina of Time soundtrack? Ok. Majora's Mask soundtrack? Never got mine because they take forever to ship it and I had moved into my house right around the time they shipped it, and I never got it.

The free download games? Stupid. I didn't even bother claiming the reward this last go round. I would've taken the dumb Gold level calendar over free download games (which you can get with coins anyways).

I've gotten some cool stuff off of there though. I got the Luigi's Mansion statue, a Nintendo tote bag (which my wife uses), and a 3DS game case. Soon as I get my New 3DS and some games I'm hoping to get the Majora's Mask carrying case.

    Nintendo are jerks.

No Club Nintendo coins for the New 3DS and new games? Bullshit. So I had to have coins saved up for all this new stuff they put up? Bullshit.

I think it's about time Club Nintendo died. While free virtual console games are alright, I would much rather have physical rewards. They haven't updated the rewards page in quite some time. There's still Nintendogs merchandise available. I really hope the new incarnation isn't just games.

I tried to redeem my coins but the server is too busy.

They say they are announcing a last round of Elite items in April. You can still get points until 3/31, and redeem them until 6/30.

Anyone know what they are replacing it with?

    Nope, they haven't announced.

Probably something amazing in Japan, mediocre in the US, and nothing in Europe. As usual.

I had a weird bug where for a few days I could log in, but it would show me having 0 coins (I have 500), so I couldn't get anything.
