By default, a US commodore 64 has a NTSC RF output.

Is anyone aware of any hardware hacks that can be done to get a better video output from a commodore 64 ? I'm going to mate it with a modern 4x3 LCD panel and would love to get a cleaner signal of some kind ...

    Thanks.

The Commodore natively produces S-video, with a separate chroma and luma signal from the same port that you get composite video from. It's not a standard connector, and the OEM cable separates the two wires since it's intended for use with the 1701 monitor. You won't get a better signal without some hardware modification.
