I just got a commodore 64. I bought it from Isebela here. When I turn it on, it shows the blue screen, but doesn't say Commodore Basic V2. It just freezes. Inside the box were chips, but I opened it and the chips looked like they were in there and these were extra? Any idea?
Yeah, reseating the chips out to do it by gently pressing down on them. I remember this from when I was a kid. Seemed to do the trick back then. What games did you get for it?
None so far. My friend is bringing over a BOX of games and I'm going to try out which ones I want to buy off him. First things first; I need a working commodore! I tried pushing the chips in, then i got it to say "press play on ta" and then it froze and now i just get a blue screen again
The most common problem with C64s is the PLA chip. I have no idea how to fix it, I don't even know what it is, but you might want to look into it. A good amount of C64s i've had i've been told have had failed PLA chips.
can anyone direct me where to go to get replacement chips? Will it be less of a hassle to just return this and buy another c64? I paid 95 bucks for it in box, in it was about 5 other chips but they don't look like they match up at all.
