    Even easier, a 5 pin DIN socket to 4 Phono plugs are very cheap (about 4 pounds or less) and will have two leads that have Composite and Audio. Generally White is Video and Yellow is Audio, the other two do not need to be connected.

    If you can figure out what chip is giving you issue, I have 2 spare C64 with smashed up case/keyboard that seem to be working and might be able to pull out a replacement out of them for you.

    Edit: As long as it's not the SID chip as I need the for a future project...
