For anyone that doesn't know it, Community Pom is an overhead-view Zelda-type action-RPG for the PSX that was only released in Japan. Knowledge of Japanese isn't really needed to enjoy it, so anyone who hasn't played it should check it out if you like these sorts of games. Anyway, I was wondering if any PSX collectors here are familiar with a demo disc of the game? I found on Zophar's Domain that there's a PSF music rip from a demo disc, but have searched the whole net in English and Japanese and can't seem to find any reference to this thing. Anyone seen it before? There's a lot of different mixes of songs on there, so it makes me wonder what other early content is on it.
...not helpful at all, but it took 3 reads to not see 'Community porn'! I thought this was gonna be some weird homebrew lol. Interesting title for an RPG though
There was at least one "Virtual Sex" game on the ps1, which I borrowed from a friend when I was at school xD It got confiscated and the kid I borrowed it from borrowed Monster Rancher Battle Cards on ps1, and wouldn't give it back until I got the sex game back lol... Anyway! Back on topic. Community Pom sounds interesting. I'll have to give it a look. Cheers!
Yeah... we don't wanna see @Bramsworth's community porn! Hmm, a demo with different content? Sounds interesting!
Hmm, not sure if it's relevant or not but!.. Community Pom [NTSC-J] [SLPS-00817] Community Pom - Omoide o Dakishimete [NTSC-J] [SLPS-02116] So there's 2 games/releases? I'll keep looking for more info and stuff.
Same game, the one with the "Omoide o Dakishimete" subtitle I think was just a re-release. I, too, have often wondered how I accidentally typed "porn" before realizing the m just looks like an r and n Last thing I thought this topic would get recognition for.
No one's taken a crack at hacking it for translation yet, unfortunately. I'm not sure how popular it is. Perhaps if a certain demo were found it'd get more attention?
I can't make head's or tail's of that demo on ZD. What is it supposed to be exactly? I assumed it was a archive of music but the files weren't a format that I recognize.
It's not an actual demo, it's PSF files, which is the format for direct music rips from PSX games. There's several music rips on the site that come with a txt doc that says who ripped it, but this game has nothing like that. Really would like to know who ripped it so we could get more info.
After digging around here's what I found: The demo most probably refers to a playable demo from the CD-ROM that came with Dengeki Playstation D4 Vol. 58 magazine. See this site: http://www.infonia.ne.jp/~kurosame/game/dps_d/index.html Here's a link to a video on NicoNico that mentions and shows content not found in the final version: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm26382788 The magazine incl. the disc is currently available from Suruga-ya: http://www.suruga-ya.jp/product/detail/ZNON2855 I was almost going to buy it myself as I enjoy uncommon PS games and demos but then again I don't get to spend much time on gaming lately.
Been meaning to make an order from Suruga-ya, but been slow at getting to it. Not sure if I'll take the bait immediately..hmmm That video just mentions the demo disk and that there were differences. He's playing the retail disc there though, unless I missed it since I stopped when there were a few minutes left. Thanks for looking! I wonder if anyone's ripped that disc. Edit: Found a rip online. Now to re-familiarize myself with the retail game to recognize what's different. If anyone else wants to check it out, get the Dengeki Playstation D4 disc here. FWIW, the final was released 10/30/97 while this demo's files are dated 8/29 and 8/17. Has a good number of differences for something so close to the release date. Thanks again, cez!
