Interesting one here. A few months ago I was visiting some friends of my parents who I'd never met before and we got talking about computers and stuff and I happened to mentioned that I was big into Apple stuff. They said that they had an old Apple computer in the attic and they'd get it down for me some time as it was a shame letting it sit going to waste. I figured it would just be a Quadro or an old G3 or something but no...it's an Apple IIe.

A complete Apple IIe, with original monitor, both disk drives, all manuals, Apple Works, DOS 3.0, Apple Tour Disc, some blank disks and the original purchase receipt. Sadly there's no box.

It needs a good clean up but other than some yellowing on the monitor it's in pretty nice shape.

Any idea what it might be worth? I tried looking on eBay but there are no specific Apple IIe's on there for comparison.

Don't see those all that often especially in the UK. I'd say between £200 - £400 maybe a little more if it's in outstanding condition including monitor and everything works. It all depends, retro computer market is up and down like a yoyo but I'd say that's about the right ball park. If you wanted to get rid quick, list it for a starting price of 150 and see what happens.

Well, after cleaning it I got brave and plugged it in. PSU blew immediately, I'm guessing it's a cap. Thankfully it's the less dangerous version of the PSU with the bleeders so I've got a slightly lower chance of killing myself. Will open it tomorrow and see what's what and hopefully the part still exists to fix it.

I'm probably going to have to sell it due to space and money concerns but I'd at the very least like to see the thing working just for the coolness factor.

Thanks for the guide price, there are a lot of Euro Plus around and later models but I've yet to spot an 'e' on eBay UK.

Wow, I'm surprised the original receipt survived. Too bad today's receipts wouldn't last that long, curse you thermal paper!
I've only used an Apple IIe once in school and had a IIgs at home.

Great find- those are not as sought after as the original II, but they still bring good cash, especially when restored.

Have you done a check over the motherboard for any possible corrosion issues? Those old batteries are the main culprits, but it's always good to give a look over even if the battery looks good.

Mobo seems fine, needs a good clean. The PSU is definitely the culprit, you can smell it.
