Well, I was adding some Neo Geo functionality to my Hori FS3 the other night, and made the mistake of taking Hori seriously on which side of a microswitch was going to ground. Long story short, I burned this guy:

The bubbled one. It states on the top "EU20Z" and is labeled on the board as "U2" which I would assume makes it some sort of IC...

Anyone know what it is? Just below the picture (I should have put it in the shot) is the USB connector, this seems to be somewhat wired to 5v line, just after a capacitor.

Looks like a 5-pin logic inverter to me, your Hori stick probably has shared signals rather than 'straight' common ground.

Someone else might be able to help workout exactly what kind of gate you need to replace that one, I do know they cost pennies though

??? You mean some NOT gates? I haven't heard of logic coming in a SOT25/SOT23-5 package heh

My money is on a 3.3V voltage regulator. To be sure you kind of need to trace the circuit.

The 'U' made me made me think it was, but I defer to your knowledge

FYI Farnell sells logic gates in SOT23-5 packages - a couple picked at random

Amazing, £0.27 and 1.30 / gate! It better be an important one since they've the performance of £0.05 / four or six gate 74HC chips, not even AC..

Holy crap, I had give up on this thread going anywhere. I'm glad you pros found it.

Thanks for the info, I have been REALLY bummed about this, and would like to get the stick back up and running for PS3. I wouldn't be too dissapointed otherwise, as it works perfect on the Neos... Though I just found out my Jamma-Nation-X order never went through (and never got a mail from PayPal... bastards!) so it'll be a little bit until I have my extension cable to even use it on my NGCD (I can plug it into the MVS if I want to sit 6 inches from the harness... haha)

Just ordered a couple chips, will update when they come in.
