WHILE this may still sound like an excuse, sir... Indeed, software prices look like they are unfair, but the work making software is grueling and intense, and the authors deserve more credit. When legitimate software is available, I buy legitimate. It never is. While I'd love to be a legitimate man that can be proud of himself, I can't change where I live, at least now. And I need to work, and have interests other than just being normal and not playing rare stuff. I own up to my actions. I confessed I pirate. I buy legitimate every time I can, though (I haven't bougth pirated games in many months, actually) And thanks for your conern, but I don't think the government can arrest about sixty eight million mexican pirates. The fact that everybody does it doesn't make it right. Sometimes it's the only option, though. Nothing you can do. I used to be a lot like you. I refused piracy and never chipped my consoles, until I realised I had screwed myself out of many good things, and paid too much for many bad ones. You can't be legitimate for long when the market punishes you for it. One day, I will return to the good road. For now, I can't without leaving, and I still have lots to do here.
Don't worry, that wasn't an explosion post hehe. I'm not against pirates or their "way of life", understand that if you buy a bootleg CD you're *not* a pirate , you take little part in the process. Just don't try to write it off as "not piracy", "only fair" or give yourself other excuses. I understand that. I'm not exactly how you think though, I own only a little over 50 retail games, a mere fraction of what I have.
hmm... quite interesting. in ukraine, it's difficult to get anything licensed; the main issue here is the very low salary: an average person gets about $50/month. Besides, anyone can rent a place in a bazaar (to sell software that they downloaded/and burned on cdr) or in subways and the police dont really care. PS: oh, and don't think we're starving ($50/mo). food is cheap (20c a loaf of bread, etc)
20c!? Wow - it's like €1.50 for a loaf over here, unless you get the cheap crap that tastes more like a sponge than bread...
If I like it, I'll buy it. I almost always burn a CD before I buy it, just to make sure I like it. Half of my In Flames CD's were copies, but I just toss those out once I find the originals. I don't tend to use expensive software, so I usually don't pirate it. I just look for freeware if I need something done (I'm a cheapass, I know).
Eh? Freeware = software that has been legally publically release for general use with no payment expected. Pirate = commercial software being distributed for free/sold without the maker getting any.
When I like something I buy it.. I have lot's of DVD's that I've watched more than once on tv or at the theather, heck I downloaded many . but good movies and games or wathever, I just got to have those original for some odd reason!!!
