    Just a test idea:

video of videogames' stories without the gameplay interrupting them.

Imagine a serie of videos dedicated only to the narrative of games showing just the story parts, the meaningful scenes and gameplay quirks cutting off all the battles, grinding, setupping etc etc.

Would they be of interest? I made a little test with the game i'm play at the moment, Robotrek.

It's basically a 1h video of the story so far. I kept the intro, some npc interactions to show some of the city, showed a solution to a "puzzle" and kept all as cleanas possible.

now Robotrek is not the best game to show the concept but i would love to hear some people's opinion overall.

All is recorded from real hardware snes rgb modded.

Yup, on the lines of that.

You know sometimes you do not have the time for playing a 40+ hours game but are curious about the story...

You would never get it to pass DMCA. There's very strict wording in the TPP that is going to become law.

Videos of any and all videogames will be considered the domain of the game company.
All video game videos will no longer be monetizable in any fashion.

In other words, don't waste your time with this.

I think if you were to do this, the viewed content should be more strict. No menu's, no unnecessary talking (like villagers saying "You should look in pots for gold!" and stuff like that). No Item pickups that don't matter (potions, weapons, etc. unless for story purposes). Show only intro to important fight scene, and finishing blow or if it's really cinematic (like in final fantasy), then show only the action parts (without the menu's and stuff).

I think for some games, it'd be too clumsy looking for it to work.. but should be fine with something that is cinematic/heavy on story scenes, simply for editing purposes. Good way to merge between scenes would be some kind of fade in/out or other transition effect. Shenmue is a good example of why it works... the game in general is displayed in such a way that it kind of feels like a movie in the first place. That, plus the gameplay scenes have been edited well enough that it fits well.

It's in the TPP they are making law, the info is not open to the public, but it's been leaked that there is language in it that makes
video games exclusive to the maker, and any videos made with footage are no longer protected as they are not considered any different than movies. You can't play an entire movie and talk over it on youtube, it will be no different for video games.

You will be able to do reviews and parodies, only things protected under fair use.

They want all the stream and youtube revenue.

The TPP is just a treaty; it does not specifically dictate law (though it does lead into law). Nothing that I have seen so far goes any further than mostly telling other countries to use existing US code when it comes to copyright/IP issues. Don't get me wrong, I think the way we are treating IP in the US is bad and that the TPP will do so much more harm than good to the companies pushing for it, but I'm not seeing how this is worse than the status-quo as it is in the US right now.

So, this means no more "Let's Plays?" No more "Two Best Friends/Two Annoying and Unfunny Nobodies Swear Over Video Games?" Oh my... This makes me happy.
