To contrast my collection of development tools, I have quite a collection of portable gaming systems.

    By manufacturer:

Nintendo: Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, 2x Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, Nintendo DS. I don't have a DS Lite, or Gameboy Mini yet.

SNK: Neo Geo Pocket, Neo Geo Pocket Color.

Bandia: Wonderswan, Wonderswan Color (Final Fantasy 1 SE). I don't have a Swan Crystal, since I didn't see the point.

Sega: VMU. I don't have Game Gear or Nomad, and I'm not really planning to get one.

    Tapwave: Zodiac

    Game Park: GP32. I don't have a GP2x yet.

    Sony: PSP

JXD: 301 (A neat little device that plays audio and video files, as well as the odd NES, SNES, and Neo Geo game)

Apple: iPod... 'cause I needed to fill a spot. :)

Unknown: Game Axe (A "Portable" NES), Cybiko (POS!)

I want to point out the Game Axe again, since it's pretty ridiculous. It takes 6 AA batteries that last maybe 2 hours, and it's ... uh... portable.

It actually has a Famicom cart port on it, and they're smaller. To use a NES cart though, you need an adapter. That, and it's pretty ridiculous.

to the game axe's credit, it was roughly the size of a game gear...

as for the cybiko, it was manufactored by Cybiko. I liked it, I was programming for it and modding it. :)

I really disliked the buttons. :). But yeah, at the time I picked one up, I was already well in to working on the Gameboys, so my opinions were certainly tainted. The fact that such a device exists really is worth noting. A low cost wireless open platform in retail.

Wikipedia'ing it, I didn't realize the range it's radio had. Nearly a quarter of a mile. Very nice.

also for it's time, christmas 1999 I believe. I had an AIM platform for it but to use it I had to have a cybiko hooked up to a PC and thatwould transmit the messages to my cybiko. Not useful but cool.

When you use the pirated cart (5, 10, 100, 1000 in one) then you do not need to use the adapter and the cart fit in the slot )

True, GameGear too. I'm not too concerned though. Lynx didn't really have many games, and the other two had perfectly usable consoles. If I do come across them, and have the money to burn, I totally will. :D
