like for instance Sonic on the PS3. I know it was blasted by everyone from here to Timbuktu - but I'm having a blast with it (though I do play it with my 6 year old kid, makes it more enjoyable maybe). also loved Bullet Witch when I had a 360, and other other not widely regarded games (Illbleed, Blue Stinger etc.). on the other hand, stuff that is highly regarded/decorated I find to be too polished somehow alot of the time. I dunno.. I'm stuck in my ways, but I grew up playing on 8bit and 16bit consoles (and 32bit consoles), so maybe I still enjoy games that go back to those days? anyone else like games that most people think are bad?
and it's the PS3 version of sonic....I like that sonic though as well. Don't care for bullet witch. Illbleed and Blue stinger are considered unsung classics. I think well regarded games are that way for a reason I've known it for years but the truth is finally coming out now. You don't earn a good review....it's bought.
I had some sort of fun playing Fire Warrior for the PS2. And I hear people say its the worst FPS ever.
Sure, I've played plenty of games people generally think are bad or didn't get good reviews or whatever. Mainly because I play video games based on what I think of them, not on what others think of them. I don't even read video game reviews because I think they are useless. There is no shame in enjoying games that other people don't think are "cool enough" or "good enough." Just play what you like, as in the end that's what our hobby is all about.
I agree with that, but sometimes I don't like wasting money on games I think would be good, and end up being crappy. Like when I got Shining Soul 1...:crying:
Blue Stinger is awesome. I make a run through it every Christmas. I love that game. I also think Carrier is better than any Resident Evil.
Yes. I play shooters (2d - Raizing, Cave, etc.) all the time. Well, I don't think most people think they are "bad", but rather "old" or plagued by sameness. I invest most of my money in them and my friends think I'm a nut job...."You spent $400 dollars on two pcb's!! F*ck, you could have bought a PS3!" And I just don't say a word about it at the local game store...no one would understand what I'm even talking about. To each his own.
Just depends on who you are. To that, I would say, "F*ck... you are cheap!" (or smart). The thing is, most Raizing or Cave PCBs are 10x funner than any continue-a-thon/collect-a-thon on any current gen system. PS3 has a BluRay player though, and watching Planet Earth on that thing is unreal. That kind of makes it worth buying.
Ha ha yes! My money went towards Bakraid and ESPRade and I am also certain that more hours have been spent on those games in the last two months than the collective time spent playing my Xbox360 in the last two years. Wonder what they'll say if I snag a Espgaluda II board :033:
i own a buttload of crappy Xbox and DC games. i went through a phase of quantity > quality and just bought any game i saw. not cool. i haven't even touched most of them because i already know they're smurfing stupid.
I used to enjoy games that I bought because I had no choice but to play the damn things even if they were mediocre. The box-art was my main criterion back in the day that I didn't have access to the net or didn't read any magazines, so there you have it. Nowadays, I can afford more games, and I also scrutinize games through multiple reviews before downloadi...ehr buying them. the PSN has made it easy for me too. Whenever I m blue, I just might get a dose of momentary excitement by making an online purchase it's like drugs I tell you The Wii and the 360 bust my balls with their online currency system. I d much rather know the real figures that I m paying. PS: why the fuck isn't WipeOut HD out in EU?
I love shitty ass fucking games. To a point. Shitty ass fucking games for 60$ out now? No. Old ones? Yeah. Sonic on 360 might have been fun, if the camera and shit wasn't so fucked up. You do a loop-de-loop....and then fly into the sky and die. Otherwise it was alright, I guess. Bullet Witch had a ton of shit wrong with it, but it was still playable. Atari did a good job fixing what they could. Blue Stinger is pretty cool if you get into it. Love the voices. A shitty game I like is Pitfall the Mayan adventure, and bad ports of PC games. I dunno why. I like old crap games because there usually hilarious.
I don't think one should feel shame either for liking games lambasted by the majority of people. I guess I feel that videogames are too well rounded alot of the time - rough edges can be overlooked or may even add to the charm (Illbleed) if the core game or atmosphere works.
