connect a ds 3 controller wirelessly with my acer laptop

I've been trying to connect a ds 3 controller with my acer v3-571g laptop running windows 10 for quite some time. I've read/ seen quite a bunch of tutorials both for motioninjoy and scptool , that are supposed to be easy to follow. None of them though seem to work for me. My controller won't sync if I use a usb cable or my laptop's bluetooth board.
What drives me nuts is the fact that my controllers sync correctly with the built-in bluetooth board of a raspberry pi 3 running retropie. All I did was just download a driver and reboot the pi!
