Connecting a Nec Turbo Duo to an home computer with a SCSI interface??

Browsing trough an old magazine (May 1993) I've found a news where NEC is told to be building an interface that let connect a Turbo Duo with any other computer with a SCSI interface (literally Amiga, PC and Macintosh). There is also a picture of the prototype unit.
Did NEC release something similar?

 

It was planned but the final release was cancelled because by the time it was ready you could purchase much faster CD-ROM drives and NEC figured that nobody would want to pay $$$ to connect the Duo (with its 1x drive) to the PC when much faster standalone drives were available.
