I found this controller http://www.dealextreme.com/p/classic-ngc-gamecube-controller-for-wii-80cm-cable-28931 i thought to myself, this controller is awesome small, cheap and good with emulators. until i found out it was a wii controller so im wondering any way to connect it usb?
You could probably cut off that end connector and try to figure out how to wire it to a usb connector. However you would be better off using an original Xbox controller, I converted one to USB once, super simple. Here is a link on how to do that: http://fury-tech.com/en/Guides/Xbox-Controller-Pc-Conversion-Mod/ -Disjaukifa
I think there is a device to convert a Classic Controller to PC. Or you can do classic controller to gcn then get a gcn to usb cable. As for is it worth it? No not really, A better option is 2 things, 1 a 360 usb controller (sold everywhere) and 2 a simple arcade stick (prob 360 usb model). The stock Wii classic controller is really not all that great (its ok). The revised model seems better but again there are many better options out there that are easier to deal with.
there IS an adapter to get the Classic working on USB. Where I saw it, I cannot recall. It does exist. It's one of my favourite gamepads of all time, but yeah, you can get pretty decent USB controllers for about the price of the adapter. Not the 360 pad if you plan to use this with 2D games or emulators, though; we all know the directional pad is fucking horrendous.
A simple google search comes up with a two-port Wii Classic -> USB box, but unfortunately it's about $15-$20... which defeats the purpose of this excellent little $7.50 clone controller. They've also got a Classic Pro clone for $10. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/grip-style-classic-controller-for-wii-black-90cm-cable-32488 That being said, thanks for pointing that thing out! I had been wanting a classic controller for the Wii to play Monster Hunter with.
cheaper solution could be a cheap wiimote + glovepie cheap wiimote findable here $12.52 better than an adaptater, you have a wiimote too but i agree, this is not a perfect solution.
Off topic, but there is also free pc software that allows you to use the wiimote as an instrument controller. I need to pick up a bluetooth dongle and try it out, should be interesting. Some guys created some pretty epic stuff with it. edit: oh and yeah I'd get a USB saturn pad, much better and will be cheaper too. Got mine for £7 and its brilliant.
