A while a go i transferd over to OSX. PowerMac G5 2x2 Dual to be more exact. ;-) Anyway...the problem is, that most Console Game Development Tools is for Windows. Does someone know any good Console Development Kit that is for OSX? And, a good kit. Good documentation, good tools and a preatty good community. Everyone that have worked with the GBA DevKit or HAM knows what i'm talking about.
Nope, unless we're talking traveling back to glorious 93-94 and 3DO devkit It was totally uhmgayhehe Mac. Even 3DO CDs have old Mac filesystem with resource file forks and whathaveyou.
Well, I thought that there are GBA/PS2/NGC/DC toolchains based on GCC... you should be able to compile that for OSX, right?
Since you're cross compiling, you should be able to program on any platform. But when it comes to official dev software for OSX? I think you're out of luck. Does Codewarrior make software for OSX? You might be able to come up with some hacked together linkup for codewarrior, but I haven't used a mac in years so i couldn't help you there. If you're desprate, you could load Yellow Dog linux on your mac and use linux for PS2's tools. But i don't think that's the route your looking for.
Hm...it isn't realy what i'm looking for, but maybe i should check Yellow Dog. I've tried Ubuntu, but it wasn't as good as i hoped for and it doesn't want to work on my PM G5. But, i'll check Yellow Dog! I don't like Linux realy, but, i've worked with it before so it shouldn't be a problem. Never though about another dist then Gentoo and Ubuntu for PPC...^^
Nor really sure if they still do.. but they did it before. iirc they atleast had a CodeWarrior PSX ver. for MacOS. (but my memory can be wrong)
No, you're not wrong... Q: What are the system requirements: A: Mac version Minimum Requirements: Motorola® 68020 processor or higher, or PowerPC? 601 processor or higher 16 Megabytes of RAM System 7.1 or later CD-ROM drive for installation 60 Megabytes of free hard disk space Runs on Macintosh® and Power Macintosh?. Windows version Minimum Requirements: PC running Windows95 or Windows NT? 4.0 or higher 16 Megabytes of RAM CD-ROM drive for installation 60 Megabytes of free hard disk spac But...badly, i think it doesn't work in OSX. My G5 doesn't run OS9 and, i don't want to se OS9 anymore. ;-) Then the Linux alternative is better i think.
You can pick up a Dual G4 450 for about $300 these days, it will run OS 9 uber-fast, looks nice, and is a solid architecture. I still have my Dual 500 running since I bought, it's been like 5 years now and haven't had any hardware failures at all.
The system requirements are so low, so i think it would be better to get a old grey or a B/W G3. ;-) I mean...i realy don't use OS9 anymore, so, the only thing i would use it to IS PSX development. Btw...then i think it would be easier to get another PC and use it for more then just PSX development. (have one in the other room...and the G5 in my room) The great problem is space...i don't have space for more stuff in my little room. ^^
