So, I have this PS1, scph-1001 (NTSC) and on the back it says: February 1997.
so North American ps1's alllll had dates on the back, why didn't the EU ones have a date on the back? :( It's kind of unfair! :p I really want to know when all my eu ones were made. :c

If it was made in 1997 it would be either a scph-7001 or scph-9001. I don't know why you would think they allll had dates when you've found one with a date on and it's wrong.

Don't forget there was the scph-7501. I forget when I got my PS1, but it was a 7501.

    Checking my systems:
    7001 - July 1998
    7501 - February 1999 (My original console)
    1001 - September 1996

So his is either a 7001 or maybe 500x series if it really was made in that year/month.

I have 3 SCPH 1001 and I bought them at retail brand new; they label on them are; SEP 1995, July 1995, March 1997 so I think some SCPH 1001 still manufactured in 1997

Yeah, tichua is right... My one is NOT a 7001 or 9001, it is actually a 1001. Nothing more, nothing less.

But it's stupid that my 9002's have no Date on them :(

Nobody know why every single NTSC PS1 has a date while every PAL unit has not? :/ i think it's really weird.

My NTSC J units don't have a date code either, the date codes are an American thing, my guess is that it was to satisfy some legal requirements likely in the event of a CPSC recall

Aaah, I see! Alright, that means it's unique to the USA units which is kind of cool but should have been on EU ones too. :p

I'm not sure if mine's weird or not, but my PSone (the small one) has a "Date Code" (1B, if it means anything) instead of an actual date like my PSfat has (July 1997, also if anyone cares).

Was that a thing with the tiny PSones?

My SCPH-1001 says "April 1997". I'm not sure about the others. I'm guessing the launch models continued to be manufactured even after the revisions were released.
