I have found a tool which says you can convert debug Xex's to retail? Mini XeX Gui v0.2 This is a small GUI interface for Xorloser's Xextool. The GUI interface will allow you to easily decrypt .xex files, convert debug executables to (homebrew) retail. This new version adds a 'mass-decryptor', will decrypt all files in a directory. Will this allow me to play different builds of games and debug xex's on a regular RGH? Sounds like it but just want to make sure
No idea on that tool but "X360GameHack" is pretty full featured if the command line is not your thing. Anywhoo most debug or dev versions of games are in the standard xex format so you don't need to do anything afaik but that crackdown alpha is an exe probably cause just how early it was in development so you would need to shove that into an xex but I have no idea how that can be done with an already compiled binary.
If you want to run debug games on your retail then install rgloader, most of my debug games I have would simply not run on my jtag until I installed rgloader.
I think OP has said in a different thread that they don't have an HDD so I don't think they could RGLoader.
So long as the build is early enough to include the D3D debugger stuff, i don't think it can be converted to work on a jtag/rgh. Only late builds like reviews work on jtags and stuff with a simple trip down x360gamehack avenue. (some exceptions like non debug alpha builds, heck even some almost final debug builds work on jtag)
Wait so debug builds don't work "as is" on modded systems? I figured they would work since a JTAG/RGH system would just ignore the signatures.
Most debug xexs contain library's from the devkit kernal which retails don't contain and or use. Therefor crash every time. The D3D and PIX output/monitor is the biggest culprits for this.
