Recently I bought a speedlink cable which was supposed to be rgb.
When I power up my psx though I get composite video.

Opening it I discoverer that there is no resistor between pin 8 and 16 , as well there is no cable soldered on pin8 either .

If I just solder the resistor between those pins, will I get an rgb signal?
Also, there is a jumper cable between pin 4 and 18.

I'll post some photos tomorrow if asked to see the cable

    Show the cable.
Also have you contacted the seller regarding the cable?

what are you plugging the cable into? its possible your converter needs power on pin 8 to work maybe. soldering a resistor wont hurt. pins 4 and 18 are both ground so its fine that they are jumped together.

Soldering a resistor wont help of there is no wire supplying power to pin 8/16.

Well I bought the cable from a store about two months ago,but it was yesterday when I first used it.
When I took the photos, I discovered a grey cable on the +5v line (can't quite be seen on the pic though), so I guess I can make it display a true rgb signal.
As you can see there is an RGB line, so I guess someone forgot to solder that resistor in place.
Also I use it on a CRT TV, so there is no need for a converter/upscaler :)

EDIT The the cable is this [IMG]

Bumping the thread just to tell you that I added the resistor and now I get a crystal clear rgb signal
