I've just replaced the board in my PAL 3DO FZ-1 with an NTSC 60Hz board.

This is a quick, easy & cheap way to mod a 50Hz PAL 3DO to 60Hz getting rid of the crappy black borders on screen.

Here's a link to my mod vid:

Hope this is of some use to PAL 3DO owners.

Am I right in thinking that you basically just swapped the motherboard? Interesting to know - it's basically just an NTSC 3DO now though, surely?

Looks like it. Probably would have been easier to buy an American 3DO than go through all that trouble but the economics of that might not be cost effective.

He mentions in the video that he got the board cheap from abroad. Cheaper than the whole unit no doubt.

Just wondering what region implications this has. Does the 3DO have region locks anyway?

    3DO is region free.

Yeah, I just swapped the boards. The UK PSU works fine with the US board. It was far cheaper to import a board than a whole console weighing 7kg or so!
