Hi all, long time lurker first time poster. I've looked around both the net and ASSEMBLER a bit, and haven't found an answer to this question: Can I replace my PS2's 110v power supply board with any fat PS2's 220v PSU, since they all output 12v+ 12v+ GND GND? I have a stepdown transformer, but the thing is annoying to have behind the console, it's one more thing to carry around when I want to move it, and it'd just make my life easier if the PS2 ran at 220v. It's a V3, SCPH-30001 datecode 1A. Can I use a board from any revision, or will I have to hunt down a specific revision, or god help me, the 220v version of my exact model?
Hopefully someone will jump in with the exact specs, but as a general rule just stick to the same model. SCPH-10000 fit 10000 (some variances I think?) SCPH-3000X fit 3000X SCPH-5000X fit 5000X etc.. Where "X" is your region code. So try to find a junked SCPH-30002 (UK -240V) on ebay with a broken laser, pull it apart and swap the PSU over.
I can't guarantee it would work for all models but I frequently swapping parts between J, PAL. and U/C consoles and they all work so far. I swapped the PSU in the 30002 with a 30001 PSU last week and it works.
SCPH-10000 and 15000 uses 8.5v so their power supplies won't work on anything but them. There's also the early SCPH-18000 which uses SCPH-10000 hardware, that also uses 8.5v... SCPH-18000 with GH-008 board uses 12V PSU (it's made using USA V1 "core" chips so it has a similar onboard PSU/switching converters design to the exp bay consoles but it has PCMCIA stuff on the IOP bus...) Exp bay consoles only use 12V because they're supposed to be able to power the hard drive by themselves. When SONY canned the HDD they returned to the 8.5v specs (PS2 slim). Edit:For the OP: All expbay models with 10 screws have interchangeable power supplies.
