Hmm, yeah I've never had a problem with DVDx. I guess it depends on your system like madhatter256 said. saying that my PC's CPU is a pathetic 1.7Ghtz Yakumo
A non-real time encoder should *never* be bound by resources (and that said if DVDx is hurting for resources on this system it's got issues). I've tried a few versions of DVDx over the years and it's never worked right for me. Guess I'll stick with VirtualDubMod and Premiere. VideoReDo is also very nice (WELL worth the $50 USD). -hl718
there's nothing pathetic about your CPU's speed Yakumo. My PC is a P4 northwood at 1.8, and it runs more than fine. Having 1280 MB of DDR 266 RAM also doesn't prove to be an issue for none of my everyday activities on the PC. That being true, I don't play PC games recently released for the PC. But 1.7Ghz is nothing to scoff at (on the other hand, the heavy over-head that many users have when they boot their PC is what is pathetic - I keep the bare minimums)
Yeah my system is good by average standards, I guess. P4 2.80 Dual Core with 2 GB Ram. I don't play games so it was overkill for me. But now that I'm getting into video I'm wondering if I should have gotten something different. DVDx isn't working for me, but it sounds pretty hit and miss with this type of software. Maybe we just have to keep trying until we find what works for us and our systems.
Best program for dvd -> xvid is autogordianknot , It also handles subtitles. http://www.autogk.me.uk/ A lot of pirate groups use it to release Xvid movies on the internet.
