Hey Everyone, When you finish the game with all achievements on the hardest level, Cool Spot for the SNES shows you an ending where you take a picture of it and send it in for a prize. Does anyone know what the prize used to be?
Ah crap I used to know this one. I'll see if I can dig it up. Vectorman for the Genesis had a promotion that if you beat the game and a special "YOU WON" screen came up on your cart you won something. Forgot what that was but I'd love to see a dump of the cart that had this.
Always wondered what the prize was myself, coulda swore I remembered reading it in a magazine, sure it was some 7-Up type prize (Suprise?). Also about the vectorman, are you saying it was only in the first print of how ever many carts?
I remember the Vectorman prize. It was printed on my box, which I believe was a first print. Funny thing is, I never actually beat the game so maybe I won! (not) Anyway, I think the prize was like $25,000. I think there were second and third place prizes too. The box is in my buried somewhere in my closet.
The box art advertised the promo, of which mine too has it on there la-li-lu-le-lo. I'd imagine mine is a first printing as well as I've had the game forever and most games I bought as soon as they came out. Only X number of carts had a winner, I'd imagine they were also prototype PCBs with EPROMs on them rather than full blown production carts. Though I could be wrong.
Except that you don't need a prototype PCB. Sega didn't fuck with the pinouts of MaskROMs like Nintendo. It'd be as simple as putting an EPROM in a cartridge rather than the production MaskROM.
If I remember right, it was some kind of paid vacation to Hollywood. Funny how you can remember stuff like this nearly 20 years later.
