So one thing that I really loved about the FFXI installation was that (if I recall correctly) it created a container in which one could copy save files from MCs. This container was stored in the HDD (the HDD icon looked like a metal briefcase with they PS2 X and O button symbols on it). Does anyone know if there is a way to get this to work without installing FFXI? (Or can I grab my old FFXI HDD and copy something over?)

I tried to open an MC and select a save file to see if the Options included copying into the non-Sony HDD, but alas that was not available.

You need (a cracked copy of) the HDD Browser to be installed.

You have to create a placeholder (folder) in your HDD first. IIRC, highlight the PS2HDD icon and press triangle...

Could anyone with a similar setup confirm a odd behavior for me?

    FHDB 1.952
1TB HDD (using official NA with modified SATA connector)
KrHACKen's 48-bit HDD OSD (only osd100 and no fsck100; osd and fsck from FHDB install left in tact)
Don't know if it matters, but I am using WIP7 uLE instead of 4.42d.

Create a folder in the HDD OSD (using the browser 2.0 interface as described by KrHACKen above) and copy some save files over. After that, exit the browser. With around 100 or so games (about 300 GB of data), the browser sometimes does not exit to the FHDB menu and instead seems "stuck" on a black screen (no HDD light, either). A hard reset seems to make everything alright, though.
