Today when I was playing Hitman 2 on my Cube, I tried to save the game and it came up with an error that said I had Corrupt Data, and that it couldn't save. I thought this was very strange because a few minutes earlier I was able to save, so I thought maybe if I let it auto save at the end of the mission it MIGHT work. Well during the mission I died, because of a very stupid mistake, and I turned the system off in disgust. Then I remembered the corrupt data. I turned the system back on and when I tried to load the game I got the corrupt data message again. So now, I lost all that I had done [I was pretty far into the game], and I'm kind of angry because anyone who has played this game knows that it can be difficult. Missions can take quite a long time to finish, and with so many of them it requires a lot of dedication to it.

I just want to know if anyone knows what happened, or what the cause of this error was. Was it the system, the game or the memory card?

Try inserting & removing the memory card several times to clean the contacts as dirty contacts can somtimes cause corrupt data error messages.

I tried that during the game, because I didn't want to lose all my data. I took the card out and put it back into the slot several times, but nothing. I still couldn't save. :smt009

    No, I never use cheats.

    - EDIT -

What makes this worse is I just found out that I was two missions away from finishing the game :smt022

Oh well if the memory card was near any magnets or anything like that that could have corrupted it.

It's an official Nintendo Memory card. It's the memory card 256, and I haven't had any problems with it up to this point. I'm even angrier now that I know I was so close to finishing the game. I'm kicking myself for turning the system off. I should have just restarted the mission and played through the last three in one sitting. Would have taken forever, but it would have been worth it.
