Could the DC be DVD-capable at launch?

    I will never understand the rush at SEGA to release it in fall 98 (with games like SA being pretty buggy) and then that big nothing until 9/9/99. If you ask me they should had made a worldwide launch at summer 99, with DVD playback and more games.

    And even if the DVD playback was crappy is still a quatum leap over VHS. Plus the PS2 has a lot of video issues, so I dont think the DC's DVD would be that bad at all. and since every DC had a modem SEGA could've released new versions of the player and patchs constantly.

    Sega Sould've made a vcd player early on to componsate for the lack of dvd
    at the time vcds were big especially in the eastern market

    Even that it wouldnt be the same, since the DVD was cutting edge while VCD wasnt....
