Damn it...Argg I don't feel that bad. In fact I feel strangely good after talking a walk in the brisk cold morning air. But, its gonna have its ups and downs... Plus I'm seeing a concert tonight so I'm up for the long run. You know I sorta like the feeling of allnighters. Would pulling one or 2 a week really be that bad for my health? I know a guy who gets like 5 hours of sleep a night. EDIT: 2 Mins later... lol yeh now I'm a little drowsy...lol
Really and how do you feel? Ughh I feel like my immune system is screwed...my chest is hurting a little.
My siblings too, but i slept like a baby ^^ As far as i know it is not that bad for your health, the body can handle it ok if you don't do allnighters all week. Napoleon bonaparte for example only slept 4hrs/night, though he died early his death was apparently caused by poisoning.
I don't think its bad for your health as i've over the past month or so found myself not getting to sleep till between 2 and 3am then getting up at between 7.30 to 8.30 which is only like a maximum of 6 and a half hours and i've only ever felt tired most of the morning then been ok the rest of the day. I was up almost 24hr last weekend as the F1 was on at like 6 in the morning and got about 4.5 hours or less sleep over the saturday and sunday so i could watch it live even though i was recording it downstairs.
I generally only have about 5 hours sleep a night max really. I went out on a lads weekend 2 weeks ago and I didn't get in until 06:45 in the morning and I was in the theme park on the rides for 09:00. I honestly need no sleep at all hardly. Why couldn't you sleep? A mate of mine wonders why he can't sleep but I have told him drinking about 10 mugs of coffee a night won't be helping. :icon_bigg
As far as I know 6 hours is the minimum sleep time recommended for physical reasons, the brain must rest all the muscles and body stuff (I'll leave the medical talk with exact terms to doctors :110 need to relax in order to be ready for the next day, otherwise you probably will start feeling weaker and stressed with the pass of the time. About being up the whole night, once in a while is not bad but if it becomes a habit can be troublesome. I always found hard to sleep in the night previous to an exam in college, but the worst thing you can do then is lying in your bed trying to sleep (even when most of the times you already know you wouldn't be able to do it). In my case I get up, watch a movie, play some game or just wander around here (I remember posting here one night about 3 AM the night previous to an exam :lol, after a while you'll end forgetting that you couldn't sleep and maybe even getting sleepy and going to bed. BTW, it's kinda funny to find a thread like this after 18 hours of sleep (got up at about 9 am with the worst stomachache ever, solved a couple of work-related issues and got back to bed until half an hour ago, about 4 pm).
I don't like sleeping. I'd rather be up doing something. I also have a huge fear of oversleeping. So generally if I have to wake up early the next morning, I'll just stay up all night. Right now I pull all-nighters maybe 4 times a month. It happened a lot more when I was in college though.
Have you considered hacking your sleep patterns using polyphasic techniques? Short bursts of sleep = more time up. http://hackaday.com/2005/10/16/hacking-sleep/ (didn't want to link directly, as this blog post gives you a brief intro to the idea, as well as it's pitfalls)
sounds cool but i don't know how any normal working person could do that. maybe if you work from home or something. generally most work shifts last longer than 4 hours.
On work days i only get about 3 - 4 hours a night, maybe less. On days im off work however i tend to sleep 8 - 12 hours
5 or 6 hours' sleep is adequate. Your sleep patterns are in 90 minute cycles, so it is a good idea to get multiples of 3 hours - 6 hours is a good example!
