I had a couple of random game questions and I thought I'd lump them together into the same thread. A.) Has anyone ever seen a copy of Mario 64 Shindou Version for sale? This is the rumble-pak compatible one. I wantssss it but I can't seem to find it. It might even just be every copy of Mario 64 released after a certain date in Japan, but I don't know how to confirm this. If this is the case, I'll just go get a brand new copy. B.) I'm on a Kenji Eno/Warp kick. He's a wierdo and he amuses me. This makes me want to play D2, but I want the import version that didn't have anything cut out of it. Has anyone played the Japanese version of D2? How much japanese is required to play through it?
Sorry, I can't help, but welcome to the board :smt023 My bet is Yakumo can answer both questions... actually there are several people who could answer them!
Thanks I have been looking at Assembler's site for a long time, but never posted on the forum until last week. The "Ultimate Collections" section makes me feel like an idiot for selling off a large chunk of my stuff last year.
I can get you the Rumble pack version of Mario 64. Got Impotaku one a year ago. As for D2, that's very easy to get but to be honest you need to be able to understand Japanese if you are at all interested in the story. It is possible top complete the game with no Japanese knowledge but I would imagine you'd spend quite a bit of time wandering around trying to find out where you're meant to go. Still, I'm sure there's a players guide over at http://www.gamefaqs.com/ which you could use. Yakumo
:smt043 It's a DCBOX :smt043 Some Japanese guy modded an DC to look like an EBOX. Pretty cool. THere was even a Game Cube one but I've lostthe pictures to that. Yakumo
I also have D2 (JPN) for Dreamcast, and I did finish it. All of the speech is Japanese, and there are no subtitles whatsoever. But, the menu's are English.
Really? looks too nice. If it is a Photo Shop job then I guess it pay not to belive anything on the net :smt022 Yakumo
That's definitly a photoshop job just look at the light on the openend lid and the exact fall of light on the console, it's to unnatural.
nah! just look at the side moulding. how on earth will you get that on DC shell unless you happen to own a factory does that kind of one-off jobs... :-D
Well, it's definitely not a rendering. It could be a photoshop, but I still think it's real. If you've ever worked with model kits and custom molding, you'd know that the sort of moulding that's done here is hardly impossible to do with model putty. Plus if you look at the molding on the side, you'll see that it's irregular (defo not a render). EDIT: I'm positive that it's not a photoshop. It's far too well planned to be one. Look at the picture below, see how much stuff has been added on it? The sort of model putty that could have been used is super-easy to work on. In fact I bet you can actually see the real Dreamcast shell under all the putty where I put the little arrow. EDIT part deux: sorry ass spelling
Yeah, that's definately not a photoshop, it's too well done. The reason there are funny light reflections on the lid is that is has a domed 'jewel' similar to the XBox's. That grillwork along the sides would be a bitch to fake in PS.
I'd like to know how he/she did that side vent slit all the way to CD door... unless these are casted out as entirely new shell it's impossible to put these into existing shell... now I know you can do thing with vacuum forming and etc. but that is way beyond that - only way I can think is casting completely new shell and getting that detailed clean lines require CNC casting mould and injection method - something you need a factory behind you to achieve... wouldn't mind to get one of those but the price for these one-off would be worth tens if not hundreds of DC consoles... :-D
I'm pretty sure that it's not a new shell. Look at the pics I posted, compare them to a real Dreamcast shell and you can see how much thicker the sides are (I have put the yellow circles where it can be clearly seen). I'm guessing the original shell has been covered with model putty and then the details have been carved in it.
I've noticed looking at the side it does look bit taller than normal Dc shell... if it's done that way simply amazing... :-( ps. don't think it's putty. you can't get the clean line that way. probably build-up using stylen(?) sheet and rod and things like that... a lot of elbow grease...
yeah i would not call that a photoshop job :smt043 i think certain asspects look un-natural because it has been professionally photographed (un-natural light etc)..... when you compare this to some of the fake xbox2s and ps3s ... my doubt is diminished
