Anyone know if these games really got two covers? Do you see how the rating square says RP "rating pending" on the two variants? I know for the VOOT artwork, that the RP cover was sent out prior to the actual release for marketing purposes (putting images in game magazines, etc). I'm willing to bet the other covers that look different and are marked RP have a similar origin. I don't believe there are any retail copies with manuals that have the alternate VOOT (or other game) artwork. I've also seen other promotional artwork that varied for NTSC/US releases. Namely, Mars Matrix with a different colored background behind the ship graphic, and Super Runabout with the white style DC cover border rather than the black it was eventually released in (Super Runabout came out just around the time they made the switch from white to black). There was also a different promotional cover for Tokyo Xtreme Racer 1, which is simply a picture of a shiny car engine on a white background - you can see this cover if you watch the TXR promotional video on the Aerowings 1 game disc in the options menu. Sometimes these alternate artworks sometimes pop up automatically when someone does a template listing on Ebay or Amazon, and that's probably a main reason why they survive today and are used by article writers who don't know better. EDIT: here's Mars Matrix alternate cover
Ah cool, you got a nice point there. It just looked funny to see that alternate cover on a article. The owner probably just googled for the cover and got right the wrong image. Thanks.
