    He means mini dv tapes.

Im suprised they have not taught you about this format in film school, then again im not sure what level yours teaches at or the equipment they use.

Their basicly the dominant format for cameras and alot of profesional cameras inlcluding dvx's and hd cams use this format for filming some films and shows since its cheaper and can be edited quickly with a comple through firewire.

Anyway congrats on reciving it and cant wait to see footage of this as im a big final fight fan.

You should definitely look into having the program roms dumped. I would guess those are probably all that differs from the original. That way not only can anyone enjoy them, but should the chips on the board go bad you can get new ones programmed.

heh - I left school after the first 4 months because work became too over bearing - and that was 4 years ago. will be going back in march *touch wood*.
anyway ofcourse I know about minidv. I have a Panasonic M9000 which is a clunky Argentine made camera, it uses standard tape.

Yeah it can be pretty tough juggling work and school.

Im hoping within a year I will be albe to move up to LA to go to film school.

My brother had a panasonic dvx himself, but his struggle to get work up in LA has led him to sell it.

Real shame too, good quality and shoots at 24fps though the dv tapes it uses are a bitch to get.

Anyway going back on topic, I guess your best bet with that camera since it was made before firewire standard would be video capture card and av output.

Heh, i have played this "edition" million times in my local "arcade" [well cafe/"restaurant"/poker thing :p ], i though it was pretty neat especially from the original, the title screen was only Street Fighter 2 [if i am rembering correctly] and finally after some major "playtesting" from some others dudes we have found a "hole" in the game to play with unlimited credits :p One nice trick that it had was that if you pressed all the kick buttons or something like that while playing with Mr Bison :p he could go up to the screen, pass the screen limit and come up from the bottom, if you continued this he could pass three of four times the screen :p [weaked stuff]

ps: Sorry for the long off-topic post, but i couldn't resist, i always thought that it was a local "hack" that made a dude that had a store with pcbs for "local arcade things"

FINALLY got a chance to play this - the only problem was that the supergun I was using wasn't working the way it should - or the montior I don't know - I have an rgb monitor (hantarex 28" videowall monitor - big dodgy thing) with scart input - and a mak supergun - for some reason the image scrolls to the point where it warps and makes everything indecipherable - the only way I got a very slight recognisable image was with the scart plug almost falling off from the input: the picture was grey and you could make out the outlines of the characters and backrounds but not much more. crap.music works though (the speakers connect directly to the supergun - this is a french supergun I bought on ebay, the maker's store is called something like otaku's store or something).

but I was desperate to play this - I've had this pcb for ages and I just thought screw it, was just fed up that I couldn't get the supergun working the way it should.

but I digress, once I get to play the board properly I'll post at length and I'll try and document it somehow.
for the meantime though I'll just say that this hack is pretty hilarious - it's somewhere between ridiculous and a real blast. the level arangement is different, and each character has a super in the same way that the main 3 do - and also a weird move which is like Rolento's grenade attack. the supers for the characters are suprisingly good and well implemented. Damnd has a spin attack for instance - similar to Blanka, where he goes across part of the screen like a human cannonball - it's what he does at the end of area one when he comes off the wall, but it's the spin attack that hits the opponents. Poison has a double summersault kick - she doesn't move from the spot, just summersault kicks twice in a row. Andore rushes across the screen, chest out, like he does usually, Holly Wood does that jumping upside down stab he normally does - very effective and fun. and Bred (I think that's him) does a fly kick foward.

you can't pick up weapons in the game at all. and your chosen character moves around quite a bit faster than the oponents - this is like a hyper version of the game - not sure if it's down to the dip switches though, which I've played around with quite a bit - I'll have to investigate.

everything works very well though, excellent hack, quite ridiculous, I'll post more about it soon.

for now I need help with this godamn supergun setup!

That's really bad news about the super gun. When you get it fixed can you take a video of this hack?

    thats strange.
you get the gray outline picture if youve just the sync connected and leave the rgb inputs unconnected.
when rgb and sync is connected, your picture is rolling

that'd mean your sync signal is fine, but the rgb inputs arent working right.

my assumption is that either the video ground isnt properly connected or that the board is faulty.
check the video lines on the supergun and if that doesnt help, get a new mobo for your game.

i can also help dumping the program roms if you want.

Have you checked the scart connector for loose cables or wrongly connected ones?
Also if looking at the following picture:
    http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/jm/img?s=MLM&f=12413222_2184.jpg&v=O
It seems a wire is connected directly on the PCB, it's a fuzzy picture but to me it don't really looks like it's for videoground but maybe you should check it out more properly.

thanks so much for the help guys - I'll check this out in an hour or 2. the board works fine as this happens with the other boards I tried. really appreciate the help.

the board was also tested on an arcade system and it worked fine.

what should I do about the rgb then? could it be the scart cable - or something inside the supergun itself?

the supergun maker is french and this supergun was made with the european TV standard in mind so I highly doubt this.

if I'm going to pop the hood open on this thing I just want to know what I have to look out for.
