Hello, this update's been really HUGE - and this is also gonna be the last one for long time, due to upcoming job I have elsewhere. :-( Here's the report you can also read from the "news page" at http://www.madrigaldesign.it/creativemu/news.php : NEW BOOKS, ARTICLES AND MANUALS There's a very important addition to the Releases database: Germans should be happy because I scanned the complete German BASIC manual (very rare version printed on A4 sheets!) and turned it into a superb 1,5 MBytes PDF file. Similar additions to the Articles from the 80s page: thanks to very nice contributor Norman Pelz, I added scans from Tele-Spiele Report'84, a rare German book printed in 1983, featuring a 4-page chapter on the creatiVision. I also scanned the complete First Book of Programs for the D.S. Wizzard and turned it into another sturdy 2,7 MBytes PDF file! Here's the list: - Tele-Spiele Report '84 - German BASIC manual - First Book of Programs for the Dick Smith Wizzard NEW BASIC LISTINGS Last but not least, there's a load of new files in the Downloads area. Let's start with a bunch of BASIC listings taken from the "First Book of Programs". I tested, fixed and saved them to plain text file, making them available for use with the FunnyMu 0.47 emulator. Here's the list: - Computer Story, Graphics Example Program, Hangman, Letter Guesser, Magic Patterns, Maths Quiz, Music Box, Music Machine, Number Guesser, Rowe's Relaxation Therapy, Sketch, Space Style Character Set, Test Marker, What Day of the Week is it?, Wizzard Clock, Wizzard Mind, Wizzard Word NEW ROMS Good news from programmer Kurt Woloch, who updated his gorgeous Titanic Frogger demo, which now works also on real hardware (the first version worked properly on emulator only), and there's also the new Christmas Demo, previously available on the Special Edition Multicart (sold through Ebay on a charity auction to support Amnesty International). Both demos are available with their full source code - we strongly wish this helps talented programmers willing to enter the leet creatiVision demo scene! Here's the list: - Christmas Demo 1.0 + source code, Titanic Frogger Demo 1.1 + source code NEW GUI FOR FUNNYMU EMULATOR The newly released ROMs informations and screenshots were of course added to CreatiVe-UI, the friendly interface for use with FunnyMu 0.47: - CreatiVe-UI 1.05 That's all folks... Please feel free to send me any comments or questions. ;-) MADrigal
I'm confused... is this about a website, or what? If so, perhaps it would be more suited to the thread we already have for website updates ;-) Thanks for keeping us informed, though!
Hi Retro, actually I'm too little familiar with this msgboard, and I couldn't find a better place than post a "news" on the site update. Actually the update includes both scanned stuff, games, homebrews and emulation... What is, in your opinion, the best place for such posts? I ask this because in the future I'll probably post more messages like this, as I try to update my website quite often  Thanks. MAD PS: and oh, I have request. I love the very nice "thread-icons" but since I'm mostly involved in the CreatiVision scene, I can't find any icon for that console. Any chance to have it added? ;-)
I have no idea how many people are into creatiVision nowadays... since there's no official creatiVision message board yet, on the whole net, and we can't "join" in a single community yet. :-( Austrian collector Dieter Koenig (who you might know because he's very popular in the Videopac homebrews scene) is currently setting up the new message board, then I wish at least 100-150 people subscribe it. From my knowledge, I can say that I have contacts with around 80 creatiVision fans/collectors around the world (that's the people who bought one/more copies of the homebrew Multicart I produced 3 months ago). IMHO the creatiVision community is quite small. The main cause is that the console was sold mostly in PAL countries, while the NTSC version exists in Japan only (I have a copy of it, coming from Tokyo/Akihabara, and it's probably as rare and dear as an Adventurevision!). This means that American guys are not into it, and most don't even know what it's.:-( For this reason most Americans say it's an "obscure console", while in Europe and Australia it was quite popular (in Australia it was even a top-seller!). With my posts, I'm trying to spread the news about the fact that there's a small community of creatiVision fans, and I'm making major efforts to update a website I did for them... and newcomers are welcome of course! Thanks for reading this long post and my all-but-perfect English. MAD
Hi Madrigal, I agree with ASSEMbler, it is quite a scarce beast, so sure, why not here? ;-) And of course, it is great that you are bringing creatiVision to the attention of more people The main thread for talking about updates to your websites can be found here. It is in the Off Topic forum by the way, and is stickied at the top. Oh, and you English is far better than you give credit for! Hopefully you'll find, as do other users for whom English is not their first language, that by spending some time here (and on any forum, of course), you will find your English improving
@Retro: thanks for the very nice words and explanations. I wish I had more time to visit/post on msgboards as in the past... too busy with job, teachings and programming. Will of course do my best to provide good + interesting news for Assemblers people  And of course I *want* an icon for the creatiVision for the threads! :110:
A load of updates to almost every area of the website, and yes we finally have a new version of the FunnyMu emulator! Let's see what's inside: Many new entries added to the Releases database. Listing the hardware: - creatiVision console (Hong Kong) - creatiVision console (Australia, re-release by Bente International) - creatiVision console (Sweden) - Moving-key keyboard (international) Plus a bunch of game boxes and manuals scans: - Police Jump (1985 reissue) - Sonic Invader (international) - Crazy Chicky (Sweden) - Tank Attack (Sweden) - BASIC (international manual, covers only) - BASIC (Italian manual, PDF format) - BASIC (Australian Wizzard manual, PDF format) Many articles submitted by contributors all over the world to the Articles from the 80s page: - creatiVision system (Australian promo flyer) - Happy computer #05/83 (German magazine) - Teknik för Alla #11/83 (Swedish magazine) - Video Giochi #11 (Italian magazine) - Neckermann KatalogWelt spring 1984 (German mail-order catalogue) - Heim-Computer Report '84 (German book) - Heim-Computer Report '85 (German book) Last but not least, there's the new "unofficial" FunnyMu 0.48 emulator for Windows (source code available for Windows and Linux) in the Downloads page. There's a major addition by Paul Hayter, author of the original version, who recently contacted me and offered an private build and source code of his emulator. Here's what's new: Changelog ========= 0.48 unofficial * fixed bug in audio emulation, thanks to Paul Hayter's fix from the private unreleased FunnyMu 0.44 * minor cleaning to source code Greetings and thanks for the new stuff go to: Russell Cranwell, Rikard Ljungkvist, Anders Carlsson, Norman Pelz, Jens Brinkmann, Richard Hennesy and (of course!) Paul Hayter. Thanks a lot! ;-) http://www.madrigaldesign.it/creativemu
Hello, here's a whole bunch of new updates! New ROM dump I recently came across a Deep Sea Adventure cart and, as I opened it, I found 2 EPROMs containing a 6 KB ROM program, instead of the usual 8 KB program I usually found. I dumped the EPROMs and now you can get the "new" ROM from the usual "Downloads" page. New emulator interface Of course there's a new CreatiVE-UI interface (release 1.06) containing the database infos for the newly added ROM. It's on the "Downloads" page. New emulator release Another great news from the "emulation" area: my good old friend Giovanni Ortu was finally able to update his CvEmu2 emulator (release 0.6.1) now including a nice in-game menu allowing players to save game state, load/save BASIC listings and screenshots. Unluckily the audio emulation isn't available yet, but Giovanni told me he's gonna release a new version soon, so stay tuned! Get it from Giovanni Ortu's website. New pictures & scans Listing the hardware: - creatiVision Mk-II console (international, box) - creatiVision console (Switzerland, box) - Rameses console (international, pictures) - Funvision console (international, box) - VZ-2000 console (Australia, pictures) - Moving-key keyboard (international, box and manual) Plus a couple of game boxes and manuals scans: - Auto Chase (Germany, box and manual) - BASIC (International, box) - Planet Defender (Germany, manual) - Tennis (Germany V2, box) - Tennis (Australia V1, box) Get them from the "Releases Database" page. New forum Too many times I thought that creatiVision fans and enthusiasts deserve to have a place to gather and discuss as a true "community". Collector Dieter Koenig and I tried to offer people a forum last year, but we then had to delete it due to excess of spam subscriptions. The new forum looks much more secure, is set to discuss software, hardware, collecting and I personally designed a skin and avatars matching this website's graphics! Link is on the "main menu". The Coleco expansion was never actually released for the creatiVision. It was *planned* and there are even pictures of it (or its mock-up) on the "creatiVision Mark-II" box but in the end it was not released. It was then released for use with the Laser 2001, that's a creatiVision-compatible home computer (or its sequel) - and of course the plug to connect it to the main unit is not compatible to the creatiVision expansion slot.
