This morning, my friend Don Russell lost his battle to cancer. Don had obtained a large stack of Sega Saturn games that happened to be betas, alternate versions, and unreleased games. Included in this stack were: Armed (aka Aftermath) Bedlam Heart of Darkness Crime Patrol (a port of a SegaCD game) Prize Fighter (another port of a SegaCD game) Jewels of the Oracle (US version, 2 different builds) Shining Force III v.1.000 (retail released version was a later build) There are others, but those are the most notable of the discs. Don asked me to make images of all his discs to ensure they were preserved, and even let me take a stab at owning a couple of the original discs. I couldn't come up with enough money, so he went and sold a few to others, both privately and on eBay. His intent with selling the discs was to make up for his medical costs so he wouldn't leave a burden on his family. Crime Patrol was put on layaway/payment plan by a member here who goes by the handle of "Mr. Saturn." Mr. Saturn informed me recently that he had completed his payment to Don for the original Crime Patrol disc. Don wasn't able to confirm this information with me before his passing. In memory of my friend and per his wish to ensure that the game is preserved and everyone is able to enjoy the it, I'm releasing the unaltered image of that game to the public. The image has also been released to Redump.org's F1ReB4LL for verification of the dump. http://amurderofcrows.net/don/saturn/
I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to you and his family, and thanks for sharing the disc images.
My condolences as well, nice to see the games being put to use for a good cause. May he rest in peace.
While I always appreciate someone sharing new Saturn prototypes, it's devastating that this had to happen under such tragic circumstances - I'll be sure to keep Don in my thoughts when I get around to playing through the Shining Force III beta he left us with...
:,( It's sad when a person dies to cancer. Hopefully a cure will be found in my lifetime or someone else's lifetime
