I just saw this auction on ebay for a Crystal Red Xbox, supposedly 100% authentic but I still have my doubts as it could be a painted job.Well here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270214897927 It did sell for 350 usd,if this xbox was real dont you think it would sell for a hell of alot more.
well he didnt explain any further details.. he just says thats its the super rare crystal red xbox, but nothing more. he could've said where he got it from or where it was initially given away.. so it seems pretty fake to me..
There was a particular spray-paint mentioned in xbox-scene about 2-3 years ago. Someone painted their crystal LE Pink/Red from the inside. This looks too legit though. The stickers have no sign of tampering. Weird. Edit: Checked feedback "NAME ON XBOX SCENE "NYCXBOX". SCAMMER!! XBOX PAINTED RED. PAYPAL RECOVERED MONEY" Thankyou. EDIT 2: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=639735&view=findpost&p=4211114 That's the post. I'm good at sleuthing.
It's only an orange top though. You can see the black. Suprised there hasn't been fakes on eBay though. Almost looks like With the faraday in it. Except the texture on the top is rough, and I believe these third parties are smooth. Correct me if I'm wrong. But yes, I would like to own one.
I was thinknig about this, if it wasn't painted: it could be a XCM case, with a sprayed DVD cover and a LE Jewel. But I think it's painted.
Given that any numerous colors and cases can be gotten from China with very little trouble, I'd be pretty skeptical about this Xbox. It takes me all of a few minutes to goto a Chinese game shop and ask them to do a case mod.
The seller posted on Xbox-Scene asking a user how he painted a X3 control panel red to match his Ruby Red XCM case, what paint he used and where to buy it. He painted it. RE: that orange xbox: google xboxfounder, he posted on slickdeals about working for microsoft and posted pictures of his other xboxes. He made one for his daughter which was a lime green base with green/purple metallic lid. He got it from someone in Microsoft who was testing out new colors. Orange wasn't used because the plastic was weakened in the process that it went through to become orange. That's why there were'nt many clear console colors - they were limited to what they could use because certain dyes would weaken teh plastic. Or something like that. google it.
