Hey everyone, I'd like to know if anyone knows where I can get a custom label for a GBA SP (the label on the bottom with the serial number), or how I could make one. I know you can buy reproduction ones but I would like to put a custom serial number on it and have yet to find anyone selling them with that option. It's a gift for a friend so I want to personalise it as much as possible. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
OK, I just tested on my repo label.. On the repo labels, the serial number washes off with 100% IPA. Buy a LOT of repo labels (you'll need a few to test) Wipe of SN, leave the label on it's paper sheet protecting the glue. Stick the label (with its paper still on!) to a piece of A4 paper or light card. To avoid jams, you could cover the entire A4 page with some packing tape, leaving the SN area exposed. Work out alignment ( I think photshop or Gimp would be easier because you can measure it out in mm) Print using Either a LAZOR printer OR a Thermal dye printer (aka those shitty 5x7 photo printers that were popular for about 10 minutes)..
Hmm, that's not a bad suggestion, but unfortunately, I don't have access to a suitable printer. EDIT: I tried rubbing the serial number off with isopropyl alcohol anyway but it didn't work. I guess I'll need something strong. I don't think this label has the clear film over the top either, as far as I can tell.
For what good it'll do me, I'm bumping this topic with some new information. I just tried lacquer thinner and it mostly removed the number (there's still some ghosting of sorts), but it's very hard to cleanly remove the entire number without also removing some of the black ink around the serial number box (therefore unveiling silver beneath it). If anyone has any other ideas for making a custom label, please let me know. Perhaps if it's possible to get a template and approximately the right material (doesn't have to be exactly the same) to reproduce one myself, I could do that.
