I've grown tired of the cheap solutions of available A/V switches and HD upconverters. It seems like they all degrade image quality and the cheap upconverters do almost nothing, except the framemeister and a few others.

Here is my proposal to fix this. This system would be completely modular, you would buy modules base don your needs. Here are the modules i have contemplated building.

Analog Input Module. This would have four analog inputs. Each input would contain Composite, S-Video, and Component connections. The module will automatically detect which of the three inputs are connected, if more that one are connect it will display an error via lcd or light. The switches for selecting each input will all be metal touch sensitive (kind of like touch sensitive lamps) to reduce wear and tear. there will be led's or lcd's above each switch ti show which one is connected. Lcd's will display the device name. There will also be optical / stereo / mono ports for each input. No digital conversion will take place.

Digital Input Module, this will be exactly like the analog module except it will take hdmi and dvi inputs.

Analog Output Module, this will output the selected input in Component, s-video, and composite, outputs. It also outputs optical, stereo and mono sound. You can choose which ports it outputs on in the device settings. there will be no digital conversion taking place.

Digital output module, exactly like the analog output module except it will upscale to 480p, 720p, and 1080p based on the settings you choose. it will do scanline generation. The outputs will be DVI and HDMI with optical / stereo / mono audio outputs. This will be powered a an ARM M4 cortex processor.

Power Module, powers all modules with the cleanest 12v power possible in order to make sure the analog inputs and outputs are handled perfectly with no signal degredation.

These modules will all stack on top of each other and connect console expansion port style. They will all be hand built and output absolute perfect video / audio. I am going to build one of these for myself, but if others are interested and there is enough profit involved i will build them for others as well.my question is how much will you spend on these modules. Here are my estimates below.

    Analog input module, $100
    Analog output module $150
    digital input module, $150
    Digital output module, $300
    power module, $50

again these are just estimates. What do you guys think something like this would be worth?
