damn is that wiz pig even beatable? N64 diddy kong racing

I recently got a N64 again a few months back and it's been a lot of fun. I've been playing Diddy kong Racing for the first time and I finally made it to the wiz pig. But damn! He's sooo hard to beat. Even at my best it's near impossible. Anyone else had a ridiculously hard time beating wiz pig? Is there some kind of secret shortcut that I am missing?

Of course he's beatable. Use Banjo, and basically go every zipper possible without pressing the A button. You'll beat him.

 

I know that he's obviously beatable, I'm just having a hell of a time with him. I'll try banjo

 

I too was stuck on Wizpig a few years ago. I can't remember if I ever beat him, but I seem to remember doing it and then having to race him again but on a higher difficulty or something.

Finally beating him after midnight on a new years eve day is still one of the most memorable moments of my video game past.

i always disliked this game.

no charm, unlike mario kart, and no real incentive to get Banjo, or go into space. too hard in parts.

the flying bits were terrible too. am I alone with this opinion?

 

Sounds like you know nothing about the game. Banjo, isn't unlockable for one. Only difficult part is WizPig, everything else just takes plans.

The planes were a very, very small fraction of the game...

It's not pick up and play like Mario Kart, and yet Mario Kart didn't have many unlocks at all apart from Extra. Diddy Kong Racing had a lot of unlocks, and collectibles which made it a lot of fun.

 

Yeah It's different but I enjoy it a lot. Still haven't beaten that pig!

 

I never did unlock the clock guy. If you can do THAT, I'll be impressed.

 

Let go of the acceleration button right before a zipper and you go faster. Good luck!

 

Ah this got me so frustrated back in the day, I was a very good racer and never made mistakes so could not understand why I could not beat him; then oneday I relised what I was doing wrong!
When going over a zip we all know you should release accellerate (or the gas pedal) ie: "button A" However what I was messing up was went to put the pedal to the metal again as so to speak.. I was pounding it back on thinking I would maximise my speed from the boost. What I should have done was wait, which is what I do now.. for the fumes of the boost to dissapate and then you can accelerate. This way you maximise your boost and you will beat wizpig easy! If you still cant do it, I cant offer anything else other than practice!
I also rinsed all the T.T times and finished the game 100% in a flash. It was like lifting the difficulty level on the game; in fact it made "SUCH" a difference I think the game is far too easy now haha

 

hexigon, i owned it. you run over a frog and get banjo or some extra character, then you get the clock guy (t.t) by setting good tt scores. oh, it was the chicken wasn't it?

the unlockables didn't really add much, more frustrate. some of it was OK, but the lastability is questionable

 

well shittt.. now I know about letting off the gas when going over those things. Will try that. I'm new to this game. I'm used to Mario Kart

 

Ok so I tried it and I finally beat wiz pig. Shouldn't there be a new area unlocked yet? I beat all the trophy races with silver or better
