Got it yesterday. Took a good 2-3 hours to get a used to the controls. Its tougher in some ways compared to Demons Souls, but there waypoints of sorts now that replenish health and healing items, so its a trade-off. Still a ton on cryptic items and characters that will take a while to figure out.
Was out of the loop for awhile and didn't know a sequel was in the works, let alone already released until two days ago when I got XBL again. Actually am quite excited to hear about it after chatting with a friend who was playing it! After you have progressed further/completed let me know if you fully recommend the purchase! ;-)
i got it and the games is a bastard as was demon's souls. In short, nice and as expected, but i liked the setting more in the first game. also i got the x360 version instead of the ps3 one and i'm deeply disappointed in the conversion... slowdowns, jerkiness etc etc... and i even installed the game! :/ this is what i get for trusting people saying all the time that xbox versions are superior to ps3 ones... >_> maybe they'll fix it in some patches. i hope.
Got it yesterday and I've been working my way through it. So far I'm loving it, although I really miss the Nexus system from Demon's Souls. Having to back track through large areas isn't exactly 2011 game design at it's finest. Just rang the second bell tower now and wondering where to go .
wow already that far! i'm getting my ass kicked by gargoyles, the idra and that weird butterfly... i'm having far more problems in this game with bosses
Use up some Humanity and try summoning two phantoms, makes things go so much smoother the first time you come up against the bosses. As for the butterfly, he's quite simple. Roll away from his attacks and attack him when he lands (also before you ascend the steps there's a hidden summoning sign in the bushes that can be used to get an NPC to help you). Just chiming in after spending a few more hours at it and then watching the Gametrailers review of the game and I've just came to realise, fuck me the game is huge! Been at it twenty hours now and the amount of areas I've visited has been vast, many only briefly explored, with an abundance of locked doors I need to go back to. And then I checked out the GT review and seen that there are still loads more locations I have to visit. Looks like this game will be keeping me busy for a while...
I assume you mean about summoning players? You'll need to talk to the Sunlight guy (I forget his name). In Undead Burg, where the Dragon is on the bridge, well he's at the opposite end to the dragon. Have a talk with him and he'll allow you to place your summoning sign if you're in hollowed form. This will allow you to be summoned to other players games were you will take on the area together. If you defeat the boss you'll return to your world with humanity on top of all the souls you collected. Then you can recover yourself at a bonfire and summon others into your world.
You gotta talk to him a few times for him to offer the stone. You can only summon him as a helper npc for the boss fight if your in human form.
i got a weird sun symbol you mean that one? i can use it while human to summon him? does it vanish afterwards?
This will explain it better than I can. From:http://www.gamersheroes.com/how-to-play-co-op-in-dark-souls
Completed it after around 40 hours of play and boy was that ending a let down... I thought Demon's Souls had a quick and cheap ending, but now it looks like an oscar winner in comparison. All that aside though, it was a fun game. Quite funny that after 40 hours of play, someone has managed to complete it in just under and 90 minutes lol http://kotaku.com/5850392/hardcore-dude-defeats-dark-souls-in-under-90-minutes/gallery/
after 30 hours i restarted with a mage and in 6 hours i'm almost at the same place with no sweat really being a warrior is way harder than a sorceror like it was in demon's souls...
A buddy just texted me in the middle of the night last night to tell me that this was the hardest game he's ever played. haha
