 Ok heres the thing >_> I have a set of 3 HDDs I use in my PC. I have 2 IDE drives and a Sata drive. The IDE drives are 80GB (Windows and installs) and 320GB (data storage) the SATA is 400GB all storage as well. Well my 320GB drive is my problem. Its a western digital and I hate them to death. Anyways it started giving me errors and some times it wouldnt read in Vista. I didnt think much of it and downgraded to XP. When I did this some how it made the partition on the drive into 2 seperate partitions for some reason. It didnt format the drive and I havent touched it since but I would like to get my data back off it. When I try to access it in windows it tells me it has to be formatted first and I just wont do that. Is there a good freeware program that I can try to run to restore the lost partition so I can save my data. Please let me know and thanks!
I already used Getdataback but it is not free. It is a powerfull software that let you recover data. I used it on 2 of my HDD during the past few years. I had the same pb as you, aka my HDD coudn't be read, so I performed a quick format (reconstruct the MBR or something like that), then Getdataback was able to look on the HDD for the old MFT then for the files. I got 99% of my data back, only some data on bad clusters were not readable.
