Oh how i loved such LucasArts games. But back in the days DoT was my favorite. I just start playing the remastered PS4 version. Great is the option to include creator comments or you can choose between the classic and remastered version. You can also play the rematered version with classic music. The Performance is not so good.. safeing a game takes to long, and i have a crash of the game after 1h playtime. But i think its really nice work and worth to play it again, with or without creator speak. https://store.playstation.com/#!/en...ered/cid=UP2154-CUSA01991_00-DAYOFTHETENTACLE
Too bad "Day of what???" has so many votes... One of the greatest games ever made with some of the best writing in gaming history.
Nice. I was actually surprised to see that there were DoT fans that cosplayed. Odd stuff. There's nothing quite like LucasArts' offbeat humor.
Not just PS4, I got myself the PC version DRM free: https://www.gog.com/game/day_of_the_tentacle_remastered And of course I also own the original back from the 90s One of the best games ever made.
Its really nice to play on ps4. I love playing it and remember on the combinations, the humor is still awesome..
I love this game a lot, one of the first games I played. Too bad they didn't put out PS4 physical copies else I would have bought it.
The monkey island remakes were done very well and added to the game. I'd give this one a chance if it ever becomes available on Xbox.
I've been a fan of Lucasarts games since the beginning. Here are a few pictures from my Lucasarts file. Some original concept art.
I've been following the development of the remastered and hopping for a good final product. It's a mixed bag when remastering old classics. The remastered Grim Fandango didn't improved much, it seems like a release for the new generations be able to experience the game. The monkey island 1 and 2, remaster, was just gorgeous. The game got such good graphics without loosing the original felling. The option to switch back and forth the classical and new graphics were such a nice bonus. Day of the Tentacle is something different. I always felt it was supposed to be a cartoon which the block pixels killed back in the day. Now it feels exactly like it should. They have announced Full Throttle to be remastered, which I think will end up being a fine product, still they can't draw it with such "round"shape design like DoT, they need to keep it a little more sharper and "rough" to keep the game atmosphere. Maybe someday they will make a full remake of the original Maniac Mansion, that would be great
Just paperwork and artwork really. I have unreleased and different packaging designs that may have been changed or were not used etc but no earl Lucasarts beta software. Console based perhaps.
Every time I see someone say they actually liked the graphics in those remakes, it just baffles me. They replaced the gorgeous pixel art with subpar, lifeless shit that looks like it could be straight out of the next phoned in Dreamworks movie. And the animations...woof. Check out Guybrush sliding across the ground with his walking animation not even remotely in sync with how he moves. This is extremely cool, is it for the first game or DoTT? Or an unmade animated series or something?
I do have one somewhere. It is set up like the Weird Ed piece. Some sketches of different angles with notes about the character all about. It includes notes about how they want her heart shaped pillow to look like a real human heart etc.
While I don't think that I have any material specific to DoTT it is possible. For MM there are some other sketches much like the 2 you have just seen. The rest of the Lucasarts material covers other Lucasarts titles. There is a bit on the early games like Eidolon but there isn't much on the later titles.
I'm guessing the Ed sketch is for the first game, since it has an LFL (Lucasfilm Ltd.) copyright instead of LucasArts. Also, it mentions a chainsaw that's out of gas, and in MM you find a chainsaw that's out of gas.
Yeah sorry, I don't think that I have anything specific to DOT. Most of the material that I have collected is from an earlier time. Here is a link to an article with some DOT concept art. http://www.usgamer.net/articles/behind-the-art-of-day-of-the-tentacle
