Does anyone know where I can get a video clip of the original arcade game running? I've done a good search but came up with nothing.

Thanks for the link but that's not actually daytona arcade. It was some clone that seems to be using the Dreamcast daytona car models.

Do you need the arcade version, or would the Saturn version do?

I need the Arcade version. I am planning a comparison between the two Saturn versions of the game to show which is the closed to the original arcade. This is why I need arcade footage. Round here there are no longer any Daytona machines other wise I'd just take a video of the arcade system running.

I think there might be a Daytona machine at my arcade; I'll check to see if it's there the next time I go. Exactly what part of the game do you need footage of, and does the region matter? You might be able to emulate it, too.

If you could get a video without roll bars going up the screen that would dbe great. I actually have the ROM set for the arcade system but my PC is crap so it runs at something like 10 fps. The region doesn't matter at all. What I'm interested in are the introduction (attract screen), car and course select, the car crashing and if possible a spinout (hard to find I know). Any course is fine as well but I'd prefer the 777 speed way course. If you can capture video from an emulation that would be even better since t he audio would be intact. Can you convert video to high quality Xvid?

The feature is going to be for Retro Core volume 22 so of course you'll be credited if you can get the footage

Well the only known source i know of is the movie sideways, but it only shows one of the characters playing it very briefly. Ive tried to run daytona but so far no emu actuallly emulates the 3d parts of it. Unless you know of one that runs it?

I tried to emulate it, but MAME failed to run it correctly and the only other Model 2 emulator I know of, Nebula, doesn't even support it.

So this is my first attempt; I realized after I got home that you probably meant the demo video in the beginning of the game when you said "introduction" but all I got was the title screen. Also, I was unable to get a spinout; maybe if you instructed me on how to do it I could. The camera is kinda shaky because I had to hold it in one hand and drive with the other, which also explains the crappy driving.

Anyway, take a look at this one. If it isn't satisfactory I can easily take another one; just tell me what I should do differently. If I did it again I might get someone else to drive so I could film it, and I might use a tripod.

la-li-lu-le-lo, THANK YOU !!! But...... the file isn't there ! Can you upload it to my FTP? I'll send you some login details to your PM.

To get a spin out can be tricky but the easiest way is to let cars drive up the side of you. Then slightly nudge them. make sure you are driving slower than them so that you can see them spin out. If you are very lucky sometimes the CPU cars will hit the car spinning out causing a whopping multi car crash ! I've done it on the original Saturn version many times but can't seem to get it done on the Circuit edition (Saturn) so this is one of the points I want to make clear on the feature I'm planning.
