That footage is definitely from a 40% build - in fact, it's the same version the UK Official Sega Magazine previewed. I've listed all the differences in the past, but from memory I seem to recall the main ones being an early lap counter design, the camera not rotating during crashes, vehicle damage yet to be implemented, placeholder text for messages such as "time extension" or "goal" and a strange mini CPU opponent (which can be seen at 19:30 in the above YouTube video). According to a preview article, the last point was caused by AM2 reducing the size of rival cars early in development while they continued to optimise the conversion's frame rate. Also, it should be noted that at this point in development only the 777 Speedway course was up and running. I have a folder containing literally dozens of scanned screenshots from this same era in the production process... I might have to look into uploading a few of these!

I have a Saturn Daytona Sample disc that is an earlier build than the final game. Here's a link to the actual page were you can see some screen shots of the disc and differences in the actual game - http://www.segagagadomain.com/saturn20/daytona-samp.htm

And for those who don't want to look at the pictures you can read the text below which is copied from my site.

This is quite an interesting sample disc. Unlike the final game you can select how many laps you want to race on each of the 3 courses. You can select from one to ninety nine laps! This lap option can be found at the very top of the option screen.

Another difference in this sample is that no matter what mode you play, you are always given a best lap time and overall lap time in the style of a Time Attack race. In the final game you are presented with a big number denoting what position you came in the race with the best lap and overall lap time below it in a small font. You'll also hear the announcer say "You Placed ??" there's none of that in the sample.

You are able to play on all 3 courses in this sample in any mode (Time Attack or Mirrored, Arcade or Saturn) with any car you want including the hidden extra cars and the horse. The karaoke cheat also works but there is no way to access the hidden Sega jingles since there is no high score table to enter your initials in to. Finally, when you win a race you have to do a pad reset because the game will just hang on the Game Over screen.

Below are a few screen shots showing the ability to choose up to 99 laps.

WeTransfer is pretty great. Up to 2gb uploads. But your file(s) are only up for two weeks before they're taken down by the site, regardless.

Druid II, thanks for the link to the full video and the disc image. I didn't know video existed in full online.
