Not too sure, as it doesn't show the actual product. You want DC-X as that's the best. Or the latest version of Utopia.
The unofficial Utopia 1.2 also has VGA support. I recommend either Utopia 1.2 (free if you can track it down) or Import Enabler, haven't had any problems with either of them.
I have king of fighters dreammatch (dc/jpn) and it boots fine on the vgabox. (by using an PAL dc and the DCX/Xploder demo bootdisc)
well i've made all my games work with vga, with my backups that is, gotta patch the ip_bin, also another thing that works is pluggin the tv cable and power up the dc, wait like 10 secs or when the sega logo appears , then change to vga and works, did this with that capcom dinasour game... forgot the name... and it worked, just the fmv didnt shop up :S
I have 1.1. Was there another released, or is this one I'll have to hunt down? Edit: Nevermind. Apparently there were Utopia versions up to 1.5.
Are you sure of this? Is it a real VGA box or an upscan converter? Is it a legit copy of the game or a bootleg. As far as I know, lo-res games will just never work through the VGA box. I'd love to be able to play KoF DM'99, Last Blade and Bangaio (those are the only three I have, there's a few others, too, though) in VGA, so please tell me there's a way. I know that Bangaio will sort of display, but only in on quarter of the screen and full of glitches. Is this what KoF DM'99 is like when you play it in VGA?
Utopia 1.2 was not an official release from the Utopia group, but it contains VGA support that was absent in the official Utopia 1.1 release. Versions up to 1.5 seem to just be random renamings that don't really bring anything new to the disc.
Another point to mention is that DC-X won't load Outtrigger on a PAL Dreamcast. I use an Exploder demo disc that came with one of the unnoficial dreamcast mags for booting imports.
its the official jpn game, and I'm using an real vgabox.. just try the way I told you... so first use an bootdisc (even if its the same region) becouse of the bootdisc the dc will skipp the cable check.
If the box doesn't work, there's always emulation (Chankast), though you'd need a BBA to rip the game to hdd first (or you could be really naughty and download something you already own... wait).
You'd also need a computer (and a fast one at that), which I don't have. I have tried booting my non-VGA games with a couple bootdiscs in the past (Utopia, Import Enabler and DCHakker) and they still don't work, aside from Bangaio which "works" as described. I don't have a DC-X, though, so I'll have to get one and try it. Thanks a lot for the info. ...word is bondage...
You reading this on a DC or something? Unless, I suppose if you are reading this on a PC, that can only mean one thing... get back to work!
