did it see a release beyond Japan then? I ve never heard anything about that game except for some previews (Without screenshots!)
I can't seem to find any info about it online. could someone point me to a decent review or something plz?
Unless you know some japanese its impossible to play (likely the reason why no one has a review). Its a point and click game if i remember correctly and i wasted £2.50 on it but then took it to another shop and got £5 cash lol I guess you have seen the gamespot review if not : http://uk.gamespot.com/dreamcast/ac...t=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;review Theres also a some for sale on ebay.
I remember different spellings being used depending on which magazine or website you were reading at the time, but regardless of how it's spelled let's just call it "Pen Pen" and say that IT was part of the Dreamcast launch titles in Japan along with Virtua Fighter 3tb, Godzilla Generations and July. However, weren't there other games available from day one as well? I could have sworn that Blue Stinger, Sengoku Turb and Seventh Cross were there from the beginning, too!
It says Tri-Icelon on the box but I assume this is due to some idiots who did the romanization of the title b/c the katakana inscription means Toraisuron -> "Tricelon". I have July in my collection. Apart from the nice instruction design and metallic cover it actually seems pretty boring to me. @Anthaemia As far as I'm informed, the full launch-line up consisted out of Pen Pen Tri-Icelon, Godzilla Generations, July and Virtua Fighter 3tb. Seventh Cross was a 1st gen game too, developed and finished still in 1998.
I seem to remember July being little more than a point-and-click-style adventure based in July 1999, when it was predicted by Nostradamus that the world would end. From screenshots it appeared July might have been set in London, though it's been years since I properly looked at anything related to this game. Anyway, following a bit more research I've discovered that Pen Pen, VF3tb, July and Godzilla were indeed the only four titles available from the Dreamcast's launch, although the other games I mentioned before did come out around the same time. Journalists had a habit of lumping first generation software together even if they weren't released as such, and because of the sheer volume of Dreamcast reporting from back in late '98 it's no surprise people often got confused!
